Transfer Video to EMC9

gmkbdl

Question

I had to get a new computer - old one crashed. New computer has Vista, so had to upgrade from EMC8 to EMC9 Deluxe. On old computer (EMC8) I had just finished a production in Videowave, but couldn't burn to DVD. I did save all pictures and music, and saved the actual production. Got new computer and put the production in a file folder on my desktop, pictures and music have been copied to folders, but now I have no idea how to load that production into EMC9. When I go to "new production", it tells me there are no photos in that file folder. Is there a way to dump the production, as a whole, into EMC 9? thanks so much. MK

How is that new computer?

Use Windows explorer and right click on the dmsm file that should have been transfered. It will either open with VideoWave or you can "Open with" then select Video Wave. When that opens you probably will have to point sets of images/music to their new location. Once you do, save it under a new name.

I don't have Vista but the process should be similar. If it isn't someone will come along and educate me.

It is so nice to be able to chat with you again. The new computer is fine, it's the old person running it that is frustrated. Slowly but surely, I am learning about Vista. Do have problems with printer right now - Lexmark X5150 - keep getting "script" error even after I downloaded the "patch" from Lexmark. So have to work on that. But Vista does have something called ""program Compatibility Wizard", so might try it thru that. Then to learn EMC9 - I'm sure I will be calling on you again. Thanks for helping me again. MK

I just did what you suggested, got the video to appear in videowave, with the question marks on pictures and music. But the pictures nor music appear in the "can't find" window, it seems to be looking for the whole file. I must have done something wrong. Found production under Explore, double clicked and opened in Videowave, then saved as, but was looking for a file under Users/appdata/Roxio/VideoUI/Images/"filename". I got as far as VideoUI, but couldn't find a folder for "Images". I'm getting close, but not there yet. MK

Tried it one more time - have ABSOLUTELY no idea how I did it, but finally it kept looking for the pictures instead of the actual file. I AM UP AND RUNNING. Thanks. MK
