Get the "Failed to Build Preview Graph" message when attempting to capture video. My capture device is the Angel MPEG device which doesn't come with Video Capture software but according to it, is compatible with MyDVD.

http://www.lumanate.com

Does Roxio actually provide a list of supported capture cards?

Go into Tools/Options and see what your rendering is set to. If it's not set to Hardware, switch it.

Thanks, but it was already set to Hardware, I switched it back and forth anyway, but it didn't make any difference.

If it helps my system is a Dell XPS600, Pentium D 3Ghz, Nvidia GeForce 6800, Angel MPEG Dual Tuner, 2GB RAM, Windows MCE 2005.

According to Lumanate (the video capture card manufacturer) it is compatible with MyDVD, but I can't find any list of supported/unsupported cards with MyDVD. The system requirements for Easy Media Creator state ...

"For real-time MPEG-2 capture and burning: 1.6Ghz Penitum 4 or equivalent".

"For video capture: OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 FireWire card or video capture device".

Fairly broad and non specific.

From Your descripition, you have a very nice system. I have a Dell 8400 that works well for me

I will try to reword this. Is there a seperate device that set along your computer or is that card in your system.

Dell is very picky on the software for devices on their systems (Learned from own Experiences) and sometime you have to use only software that Dell installs on your system. Dell sometimes use proprietary drivers designed to work specifically on their systems with those devices. Finally, even though there is other software with the same name due to an upgrades in that softare, there there is not guarantee that software will work.

You may want to check to see on Dell's support site if a newer Driver exists

Welcome to the wonderful world of Dell.

This is just a thought.........................

This is the PCI Card. I idenitified it from it's UpNp string. It is the Angel I, not II and it has the latest drivers. I also installed the Hauupage WinTV250 this evening. With this I can actually preview the recording just fine, but if I hit capture, I get the same error message. The Angel device does not even let me preview it.

Well... I at least got the Hauppage card to work by creating a script to Shutdown Media Center.

@ECHO OFF

CLS

ECHO Closing Media Center Services...

net stop ehrecvr

net stop ehsched

Once I'm done with MyDVD, I restart the services.

ECHO Restarting Media Center Services...

net start ehrecvr

net start ehsched

That did the trick, but could never get the Angel device to work.
