Is Popcorn 3 a beta release?

vixxx

Question

Each time i try encoding mpgs onto a dvd, i get a message saying that Popcorn is set to PAL and the files I'm inputting are ntsc. Thing is there seem to be no preference option to set Popcorn to ntsc or PAL. what gives?

the next annoying thing, I tried using the Video_ts compilation feature. I get an message saying there's an error recompressing the video. On doing some trouble shooting, i realized that popcorn will only create a compilation when the total amount of clips in each videio_ts is less than the dvd standard 99. Now why would roxio push this feature if that limitation existed? wouldn't it simply have been more useful if the program combined all the file on each video-TS before combining?

the temporary files do not automatically delete. Plus the temporary items folder does not go to the drive i select in preferences. It defaults to my documents folder.

Most new programs are buggy when they first come out. It's part of the 'fun' of being the first one to use them. Future updates will fix these issues, the only question is how soon...

The trouble is that Popcorn 3 is just not usable as it stands - just look at the comments here. Toast 8 is fairly solid (though it could do with a few bug fixes).

I agree! I have had few successful conversions but more problems that successful conversions....

I will be looking into getting a refund as well.

Kind of a bummer as I was really excited about it's release!

Maybe they will be coming out with an update soon to fix these issues we all seem to be having?

Toast 8 had those same kinds of comments when it first came out. It's the nature of software. Give Roxio the benefit of the doubt and I'm sure they will correct these 'bugs' in due time :) They probably should have done more testing though, I'll agree with you there ;)

They will fix them about the time Toast 9 comes out. It's the way they do business.

It may seem like that but there were updates to Popcorn 2 before Toast 8 came out. In fact, there haven't been updates to Popcorn 2 after Toast 8 was released.

I would like to see Roxio release bug-fix updates more often. The wait is longer than I expect. Also, I'd like to see them post known issues and bugs so everyone knows whether or not the issue they are having is one that Roxio knows about.

As for releasing software with known bugs, that happens everywhere - especially from Apple.
