Computer Hangs Dvd Copy

Question

I have EMC7 Basic DVD edition with Disc Copier version 7.1.0.220. I'm trying to copy a DVD and the transcribing process works fine, but the second I hit the button to burn the DVD itself, my system locks up and requires 2 reboots to recover. I've tried using the intermedieate .iso file and the result is the same. I used msconfig to do a diagnostic startup and that solves the problem. What application is interfering with the burning process? I've tried disabling Norton Internet Security by itself and that didn't do it. Any suggestions?

That's a hard one to take a guess at.When you do a diagnostic startup alot of things that start normally are disabled. You could go back to msconfig,go to the startup tab and uncheck boxes, restarting after each time, until you can narrow it down to 1 thing.Only thing there is that the diagnostic startup also disables the things under the services tab also.

Do you have other burning software on your machine? If you do and it has packet writing software,ie:InCD or Sonic DLA,these could be interferring. If you have one of these try disabling them and then rebooting and burning.

I can certainly reboot a bunch of times, I was just hoping I would get some specific suggestions from people who had maybe the same issue so I wouldn't have to do that. Other writing SW is a good suggestion, but I don't have anything installed. I even disabled the drag to CD application in Roxio due to issues people report on this forum. I just went through the installed list, what about the HighMat extenstion to the burning wizard? Can I remove that w/o any writing consequences? Thanks much for the suggestions.

Um, just on the off-chance - you didn't make the mistake of formatting the disc, did you?
