Cannot download order

Question

Ordered EMC 10 download today and all went well except no button or link ever appeared to download the installation file. Payment was accepted, etc. I've tried all the tricks I know, but keep being led in a circle. Worked fine a few weeks ago with 9. Any clues? I keep getting message on order page that its "processing unlock code" ... this has gone on all afternoon.

Pasted from order page:

Easy Media Creator 10 Suite - ESD UG/EM

* Processing serial number or unlock code.

* Windows 2000/XP/Vista

* Electronic Download

Thanks

Turn off any pop-up blockers that may be running - even stop the anti-virus program until the download starts (you should be able to turn it on once you actually access the server)

it looks like your order was not complete. You might want to contact Digital River to see what's going on. You can find the information at the Questions After Purchase section on the right from the page below.

Isn't that the download file name rather than the "Version" or "Build" number Daithi ???

The build will probably be 100b47...etc, Frank, if they're using their usual naming convention.

Digital River, a bunch of cowboys if ever I saw one, is not Firefox friendly. I had to use Internet Exploder to complete the transaction.

Hi,

I also downloaded version 10 today and had the same problem. The "find my order" could not find it at all. After many times of waiting on the phone, I found a link on the roxio website for "International" orders. I clicked on "North America" and got a different login screen. Supplied my user name and password according to the purchase order and all went great.

Sorry, I'm not sure what web page I found that link on, but it might be a good idea to email/call and see if the emailed information to you contains the link for your area and not some other area of the world.

Good Luck,

Cliff

I am so glad to hear I'm not the only one having problems. I tried to download EMC 10 Thursday and it kept starting and stopping and then just hung. When I went to try and download it again (I purchased the Extened Download service) it tells me I have exceeded my downloads and to contact customer service. Wrote them Thursday night and got no reply on Friday. Wrote again Friday and haven't heard anything yet this morning. This same thing happened to me when I did the download with EMC 9. Customer service reset the downloads some how and then downloaded it. I thought about using IE but too late. I hope to hear from them today so I can try again. This is so frustrating. Their good about getting your money, but not a lot of help on the back side.

That's always a problem with http file transfers especially big ones like this (the server comes under strain and starts to drop out). Personally, I think it's time to look for a better method

As for the build numbers - there's always a minor difference between ESD and boxed sets and all it is is an identifier as to which it is - the actual suite is identical

http (web) transfers are the way that Digital River sends the files - there's no resume or anything like that so if the download hiccups, you've lost the whole thing. You can't use an external download manager such as GetRight or FlashGet because they do a multiple connection and then you find you have 'exceeded your download limit' and have to get Customer Srvices to reset the thing

There are alternative methods which do support resume - .torrent files, ftp transfer or even (as Sun Microsystems use) a dedicated download manager - all of these will let a file pause and then resume.

When a http server does slow down with load, there's always a danger that the transfer will stop. That's why I just don't like using it, but, unfortunately, that's the only game in town

The comment on 'build numbers' was for someone else ;)

Thank you for clearing that up. So what is your recommendation when they do reset it for getting this blasted program downloaded efficently?

Best way once you have the counter reset is to try at strange hours - I found over years of experience (with 14k4 modems even :lol: ) that the best time for downloading stuff was between 0900 and 1300 GMT (that's before the west coast USA wakes up)

I think I'm a voice in the wilderness complaining about the inefficiency of using http servers for file transfers, especially one that size

Thanks for the help. I'm open to all suggestions. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon and get started.

Not nit picking Ivan, then why are users downloading a diferent version? read here?

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=27117

and even Tom has said he checked it and the download link was fine??

just wanted to clear this

RoxioEMCSuitev10.04737AA50R03.exe installs the build 100B44B

Also, the download for EMC 10 are two separate files like previous versions now.

Ivan
