Most OEM's at least supply the limited suite versions. Can both be installed, basically No. You would need to uninstall the Basic, then install the retail one you bought. I don't know why you would want to keep both since the retail one will have more functionality then the OEM basic one. Import those file types, yes it should. If you can't in the OEM basic one, that's probably something they limited in that version they supplied you. Can you output to other file formats like .wmv, not with MyDVD. It's not designed to do that. MyDVD is for creating projects to burn to a disc as a DVD Video disc, it's a DVD authoring program. It is not a video editor, which is what's needed for outputting video files. To do that, you need a program like Roxio's Videowave. Since it sounds like you want to do both, make DVD's and edit/create video files, then I would suggest you return the MyDVD you got (which is the lowest end one anyway) and get the Easy Media Creator Suite which can do both. If it was me, I'd get the EMC 10 Suite that just came out rather than the EMC 9 Suite.

Let me explain. First of all, my knowledge of computer is shallow, so please guide me if I sound silly. I have done substanstial work on the MyDVD9 Basic. If I un-install it, then all my work in there will be wiped off. Furthermore, if subsequently my installation of the new purchase of MyDVD9 Studio go haywire then I will end up with nothing, no MyDVD9 Basic and no MyDVD9 Studio and that will be a nightmare !! Is there a way out of this ? Thanks
