Video Freeze During Capture

I have been using this software for several months without any problems. In the last couple of weeks, when capturing video through a capture card, anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour into the capture, the video freezes. If I uninstall Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 and reinstall, this fixes the problem for about 2 captures. The problem then happens again and I must uninstall and reinstall. However, when using the DVD Editor, I am unable to tell that there are any problems with the video. I can see the entire capture. Unless I happen to land exactly where the freeze happens, it looks fine. I will burn a disc and test it and find that it freezes at 51 minutes. I pull back up the captured video, go to 51 minutes, and sure enough, the video will freeze at the spot. Is my software, a disc rather than downloaded program, the problem? What do I do?

Lets try the easy questions first. If they don't help, you'll have to do more troubleshooting.

 

Do you defragment your hard drive between captures? How much space do you have left on your hard drive?

 

Have you checked for spyware lately? What type of virus protection?

 

Have you installed any new programs just before you started having these problems? Have you changed the way you connect to the internet?
