MPG file extension for Video Help Adding to Videowave

BabsNB

Question

Help! I just purchased Roxio EMC 10 and am trying to create my first DVD for a school project. I have a MPEG video file I imported from a Sony HandyCam Recorder DVD. When I try to add the file to work with it I get message "file cannot be edited and have not been added." How can I work with this file? Do I need to change the file extension, and if so, what do I change it to?

Try rename the files... to mpg

Have a'like problems...

MPG-files from a JVC camera (Harddisk) = with extion .MOD

But - then I have to use fill="corp" the movies in VideoWave.

Windows media-player and Studio 11 can see af play the files...

Sorry for my english.

I am having this same problem. I am using MyDVD Express and when I try to add a movie I have imported with my handycam software, it gives me the message "The File you are trying to use cannot be edited, and has not been used"

The file is not read only, I checked that.

The software that came with the handycam is called Picture Motion Browser.

It loads each of the clips on the DVD as separate movies (mpg files) onto the hard drive. This is what I want. When I import with Roxio, it bundles them all into a couple of files that I have to split out.

There are .modd files in the directory where the mpg live, but I am not trying to use the .modd file. I'm trying to use the .mpg files.

Thanks.

Looks like this is a very common problem. I have spent hours and hours trying stuff to fix it, but cannot.

The same files are doing fine in Windows Movie Maker.

I have been a loyal Roxio fan, but if Roxio can't provide an easy fix for this, I'm afraid they're going to lose a bunch of folks to the MS product.
