How To Capture Video In Pal

big-red@slingshot.co.nz

Question

Hi folks

Just bought EMC 8 a few days ago, and i'm very impressed.

One question though..

In our part of the world (New Zealand), we use PAL format.

I want to capture MPG2 from a VCR, using a video capture card, and edit the files in MyDVD or VideoWave

This is what i got........Select capture from WELCOME screen. Opens Roxio Media Import.

Under the section 'Quality', i select a template....but they are all NTSC!!! (29.97fps not 25 fps)

I then open 'my template', to select PAL format, but there is no PAL option in the pull-down list.

I know that i can output in PAL format, but shouldn't i also be able to capture in PAL also??

Help will be appreciated... :)

I would think that would be a function of the analog capture card. Which card are you using and does it capture in PAL?

Thanks for reply

My video capture device is analogue external USB. I don't know what chipset, as it is branded by the retailer, not manufacturer.

It can capture PAL as well as NTSC in MPG1, 11, IV or AVI formats

My confusion is...with my other video editing software...Ulead DVD MovieFactory, Cyberlink PowerDirector Pro, Nero etc....when capturing...you select either a PAL template or NTSC template.

This option is not available in Roxio EMC. NTSC is the only option.

Does this matter...will it still capture in PAL if that is the original source format, even if the NTSC template is selected??

Cheers Big Red
