Import Video Error

Bernadette

Question

I have installed the upgrade to EMC 9 to the EMC 9 Deluxe Suite. I am attempting to import a video using the Dazzle from a camcorder. The software does recognize Dazzle as a source; when I click capture I only see a black in the screen. After I stop the capture, I try to click on the file and it gives me an error "Unknown error" while capturing. Any suggestions?

If it's a DV camcorder that you don't want to use the DVC 90 (Dazzle). You want to hook up via firewire and transfer your already digital files. There are other methods -- I think you might find most by searching the forums -- for cameras that use discs etc...

If you're using an analog camcorder, and if the DVC90 is installed & working properly, you'd hook up preferably the s-vid and audio cables, set the camcorder to play back your video (the same way you'd display it on a TV), and you should see the video in the Import Media window. If it doesn't work I'd try another source to see if the problem was the DVC90 or not. If it is the capture device, search the forums here for links to newer drivers and different tips folks have found. The easiest thing to try is simply plug the USB connection into one of the ports on the back of your PC, rather than using a hub or one of the ft ports.

Thanks for your input. I am using an analog camcorder and I connect just as you stated; but I don't see anything in the import media window. When I stop the capture and click on the file, I get the general error "unknown error".
