Emc 8.05 Update

maidaandhans

Question

There seems to be 2 ways to download EMC 8.05 update; (1) by selecting updates from the EMC 8 help menu and (2) from the Roxio support site.

(1) Due to the file size I cannot complete the download via the EMC8 menu "check for updates" in sufficient time. My ISP suggested Download Accelerator Plus but the only URL visible at any time is: http://updateservice.sonic.com. Also, right clicking the download button does not offer up DAP for use.

(2) In trying to work through the Roxio site I get into a never ending circular route from http://www.roxio.com/en/support/software_updates.jhtml (update list) to http://www.roxio.com/en/support/emc8/softw...updatesv8.jhtml (update EMC8) to http://www.roxio.com/en/jhtml/ftp/filedown...jhtml?id=600005 (download patch) and back the update list.

Any ideas how to use the Download Accelerator for the update?

Thanks

Hans Lentfert

Sometimes, downloads don't like working with accelerators. I've had luck with Flashget but the native downloader from Firefox usually works for me better than IE.

I just tried your link to manually download and it completed with Firefox in 3 minutes, 6 seconds with no problem.

What do you want to update for? I suggest you NOT update, because if you do, you will then UNFORTUNATELY will be UNABLE to use a EMC8 feature or two. I know it sounds retarded, but that's the way it is. :)

I agree. Don't update. Just check out the forum for the countless problems which have occurred with update patch. The only reason I can think of for installing is if you want to practice doing a complete new install of your Operating System!
