Andy Epoc
Hey Guys, i've been trying to figure out how to make EMC recognise my CD/DVD RW. I've tried the the fixes that were posted by highlander but it seems that EMC 10 can't find my DVDRW drive. Here's the Screenshot of EMC 10: Any suggestions / help is appreciated. Andy Epoc
Daemon Tools caused a big problem with EMC 7, but I haven't heard of a conflict with later versions, until now. Disable Daemon Tools, and see, apply the PX Engine file again, and see if it clears up the problem. I'll try applying the px engine again, one more question the pinned post by Highlander say that in the registry find the upper and lower filters? i only found the lower filters these are shown in the picture below after i deleted the lower filters in the key registry he specified. Roxio should do a a patch for Vista to correct any errors that might be caused with DVD/CD RW drives instead of doing it manually. Any ideas how to solve the issue bruce? thanks Andy
Andy Epoc
Try going into System Properties, Device Manager and clicking the DVD/CD Rom Drives + button and highlight your drive and choose Uninstall. Then reboot. When Vista picks it up again, it should allow EMC to do so as well. If that doesn't work, see this pinned topic. Hey Beerman, thanks for your quick reply mate. I've tried your suggestion and it still says "No Drive Detected" I have already installed the "Sonix Px Engine" from the same post that you pinned it and i've tried also the other alternative that was in the topic as wel but i don't know what to do now. EMC 9 was working fine on the same pc. Is there anything you think might be causing the problem? thanks

What other similar type programs do you have installed? Any virtual drives running?

I Only have Daemon Tools on my pc, could that be a problem with EMC 10? i only have daemon tools which is kind of CD/DVD related software. What's annoying me is that EMC 9 was working great before. thanks
gi7omy
The upper/lower filters problem is actually a Microsoft one and they're the ones who posted the kb on the fix. We're just passing it along here

james_hardin
The Registry has to have both Upper and Lower Filters. As Daithi pointed out, it is a MS problem that first appeared in XP and has carried over to Vista. MS first named Roxio specifically then withdrew that one and finally came out with their own repair, NOT A FIX, just a guided repair: Here
