A follow-up on the installation of Contents 10 and MyDVD and Videowave Applications that would not work.

Question

I had a problem with installing EMC Contents 10 as the install shield would read the contents then the blue line stopped at the end. No further activity. When trying to click on the block, “Not Responding” would show and computer would hang. Yesterday I did the same and did nothing but leave it alone after “package read.” Then after 15+ minutes the inventory started and then installed. I don’t know why the slow process as my computer is no sissy. Checked Installed Programs and there it was. But I can’t find it as a separate program. It shows in Search as being in “C” so maybe it is incorporated into EMC 10 Suite?

As to the two applications, MyDVD and Videowave, that would not

respond when Suite was open, I tried clicking on those two individually from Start, All Programs, EMC 10 list. When I did the message “d3dx9_33.dll is missing” popped up. This did not appear when the complete Suite was open. A Google search indicated this is a common problem. I downloaded the .dll onto Desktop but then didn’t know where to put it. A further search had a solution in Roxio Knowledge but the method shown by using Search and typing DX9_REDISTS\DirectX9\DXSETUP.EXE didn’t work as Search said this is “not a valid folder.” Then searching in the Roxio Forum a member solution was presented that said to download and unzip d3dx9_33.dll and put it into Windows System 32 folder. This I did, restarted, and now MyDVD and Videowave works.

It would seem that this missing .dll situation would have been recognized and mentioned by Roxio Support after my requests for help as I noticed that others had this same problem.

Contents is not a separate program but simply adds extras to the EMC 10 suite such as menu styles, transitions, etc. It is "ncorporated into EMC 10 Suite" as you assumed.
