gogosean
Steps: 1. Load Toast 8 2. Go to Extras and verify Tivo Transfer is on the menu, but do not attempt to launch just yet. 3. Go to the Help Menu > Toast Setup Assistant 4. Progress through the series of panels for the Setup Assistant 5. You will eventually be prompted to enter your Keychain 6. On the next screen, Check Mark the Enable Tivo Transfers button. 7. On the next screen Check Mark the register at web site box. (Why this is important, I don't know. But it only worked for me if I chose to register. 8. Finish up the setup assistant and quit Toast 9. Load Toast and go to Extras and attemp to Launch. I actually had to try this a couple of times but it eventually worked. I hope it works for you.
kingcjr
I put in a ticket with Roxio two days ago describing the problems with transferring, encoding and audio syncing that I've been having with Toast 8.0.3 along with almost EVERYONE else. I ALSO had the problem with Toast not being able to find TiVO Transfer! The following is the response I received yesterday. Read all the way down for what happened next in my case... Thank you for contacting Roxio Technical Support Try uninstalling Toast and just installing the 8.0.3 update and see if that resolves your issue. How to fully remove Toast 7 & 8 Titanium form your computer. 1. Delete the Toast 7 & 8 Titanium software folder located in the Applications folder. 2. Press Command-F and enter Roxio into the search field. Delete the Roxio folder from these two locations: /Library/Application Support/ /Library/Application Support/ 3. Press Command-F and enter 'Toast' into the search field. Delete the 'Roxio Toast Prefs' file and the 'com.roxio.Toast.plist' file from this location: /Library/Preferences/ Delete the 'ToastIt.plugin' file from this location: /Library/Contextual Menu Items/ 4. Press Command-F and enter 'Deja Vu' into the search field. Delete the 'DejaVu.prefpane' file from this location: Library/PreferencePanes/ Delete the 'Deja Vu' folder from this location: Library/Application Support/ Delete the 'com.Propaganda.DejaVuPref.plist' file from this location: /Library/Preferences/ Delete the 'DejaVu.pkg' file from this location: Library/Receipts/ 5. Press Command-F and enter 'DivX' into the search field. Delete the 'DivX 6 Decoder.component' file from this location: Library/QuickTime/ Delete the 'DivX Decoder 6.0 Preferences' file from this location: /Library/Preferences/ 6. Press Command-F and enter 'CDS' into the search field. Delete the 'CDSpinDoctor' folder from this location: Library/Application Support/ Delete the 'com.roxio.deepseasoftware.CDSpinDoctor.plist' file from this location: /Library/ Preferences/ Delete the 'widget-com.roxio.deepseasoftware.widgets.CDSpinDoctor.plist' file from this location: /Library/Preferences/ Delete the 'CDSD Recorder' file from this location: /Library/Widgets/ 7. Open System Preferences, set CD & DVD preferences to use Apple products or to Ignore, then Restart After restart empty the trash if you have not done so. IMPORTANT: Prior to reinstalling the software, it is recommended that you first run Disk Utility (located in Applications/Utilities folder) and Repair Disk Permissions on the hard disk. Regards, Roxio Technical Support http://roxio.com/support I followed these instructions and used TiVO Transfer to move a TV show from my Series 2 to my iMac, IT WORKED! IMPORTANT: I had to run the Setup Assistant ALL THE WAY THROUGH - INCLUDING the registration bit at the end. At first I bypassed the registration step, but then Toast couldn't find the TiVO Transfer program, don't give up if this happens, try running the Assistant again... Then I used Toast 8.0.3 to encode that file along with a file I transferred BEFORE the reinstall using iPod Smallest format (as a test.) The old file had the same audio sync problem, but the new transfer was PERFECT! Today I tried to transfer 16 files from my TiVO, left it alone for a couple of hours and D*MN!, the first file got stuck transferring!! Didn't panic, though. I went to the TiVO and RESTARTED it (from the on-screen menu.) Fired up Toast and TiVO Transfer again, and now I'm in business! Now, I can't ABSOLUTELY guarantee that all this will work for EVERYONE, but hey, it's worth a try! But if it DOES work for you, please post and let us all know!! ...and if it DOESN'T, then by all means, put a help ticket in with Roxio! Maybe if we inundate them with enough tickets, they'll have to do something more public about this nonsense.
hmbzmom
This does not work for me. My whole system is set and this is the only thing I have left to do. It won't work and the Roxio information does not bring up any other solutions. They also don't acknowledge that this is a known issue, even though several people have brought it up. I've enabled TiVo transfers at least 20 times in the setup assistant over a 6 hour period and it does not stick. If there are any other suggestions out there, please let me know! What are we supposed to do next? Become Unix system admins just to run this piggly little app???? It certainly isn't a workable solution out of the box. Why does Roxio release such buggy software?????
