How to Create Audio CD with Data Files

Chaz

Question

I want to create an audio CD, which I know how to do, but I also want to put a few other files on the CD, so when they put the CD in their CD player, they will hear music, when they put it in their computer, they will be able to view and use the other files.

It's probably something very simple, but I can't figure it out.

Thank you in advance!

I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

The Autoplay function will start the CD to play in a CD player, and you will just have to shut it down and then view the CD with My Computer or Windows Explorer or whatever to view the other files.

First copy the music files to the cd but do NOT close, then copy the Data files to the CD and now CLOSE or FINALIZE the Cd. The autoplay should still work and yet the person should still be able to view files.

Do a trial run first.

I haven't ever tried mixing data files (i.e. wav, MP3, or other type files etc.) on an audio disc that will play in a regular player (or on the computer), so I can't say you are mistaken. But I tend to think that you can't mix and match Data files and an audio CD on the same disc. I guess the only way to see if it works is to try it as you suggested.

If you do try, you are right about having to burn the data files on the disc first as if you burn the audio files first it will close the disc and you won't be able to add anything else anyway. An Audio disc MUST be closed before it will play on a CD player.

In Creator Classic you can create a Multimedia Disc. The info says "A multimedia disc is a CD or DVD that contains media files—photos, video clips, and audio files. You can add files from your hard disk, or from other sources such as audio CDs.

Select this type of project when you want to create a disc that contains photos, audio, and video clips, but not data files."

One program I used was Flip Album and I created a book that you turned pages etc, on those pages were Maps, Photos and Docs. It is a self running program with an autoplay file. I added the folders so the Soldiers could easily grab the file (maps, images etc) and do as they needed.

I will play with this Friday to see if I can do it on CD with Roxio. I am sure I did a movie and had the folders on the same DVD, the movie was the presentation and the folders had the files for reference and copy. I used a military computer, so am not sure on the movie format, I will check to see if I can find it and give info. Now you got me wondering

Many music CDs that you buy now, actually have short films on them as well as advertising for the artist etc.

Chaz,

under EMC 9 data, open Creator Classic , Other Tasks, CD Etra Disc Creator, that opens the CD Etra Disc Creator window. You have two choices.

Enhanced CD

An Enhanced CD is a multi-session CD that contains both music tracks and computer data. The first session on the CD contains the music tracks, so a home or car stereo CD player can play them. The second session contains data intended for your computer’s disc drive. Many Audio CDs are made as an enhanced CD to provide Audio CD tracks and a music video all on the same CD.

Mixed Mode CD

A Mixed-Mode CD is a single-session CD that contains both computer data and music tracks, and is typically used for entertainment and educational programs. Data is written to the first track on the CD followed by one or more music tracks.

Note: Mixed-Mode CDs are used in ROM drives and recorders only and cannot be played in home or car stereo CD players.

I did this in V5 years ago with music as a Audio CD and pics of the boys band included on the CD.
