muellervideo
Hi everybody, I just installed Media Creator 10 on my Dell Precision 390 workstation running on Windows XP Pro. Ever time I open MyDVD I get an error message saying "VideoWave 10 has encountered a problem and needs to close" and MyDVD closes. I read the previous Video Wave topics but they offered no solution for me (I have the d3dx9 file in my windows system directory). I didn't have this problem with Creator 9. Any ideas? CMiller
I'm having the same problem. Can't open MyDVD or MyDVD Express--get the "VideoWave 10" error message. I also looked and found that I have d3dx9_33.dll installed where it should be. I tried updating DirectX -- currently have DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) -- but after installing the update and attempting to start MyDVD I got a blue screen: "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer..." I did a System Restore after that. Then I tried cleaning all previous Roxio and Sonic files off my computer in order to do a clean install of EMC10, but the problem remains. Dell Optiplex GX745 Intel® Core2 CPU 6400 @2.13Ghz, 1.60 Ghz, 2,00 GB of RAM Microsoft Windows XP Pro, V. 2002, Service Pack 2 =============== Edit: I urgently need to produce my DVD, already a week past due--Roxio Customer Care suggestions have so far been no help (basically to disable unneeded startup items and services and try again.) I need help fast or I'll have to ask for money back and use another product. Anyone know something more stable?
ilanidrac
Gents, Appears there is a conflict with video acceleration and myDVD trying to load the menus. Turn off the Dirext X Accleration in WMP under tools/options/performance tab Worked for me. Thanks! I can now used my DVD in creator 10! - I went to my ATI catalyst center and followed the posted instructions
barryware
Thanks for all your responses so far. I checked my settings in WMP and DirectX accelaration was turned off, so that can't be the problem in my case. I have an ATI FireGL V3400 card but I can't seem to find a Catalyst Control Center. So, I'm still having the same problem... CCC (Catalyst Control Center), does not have to be installed, just the video drivers. The latest version of the drivers and software (CCC) is 7.9 and can be found Here Make certain that you Uninstall your current video drivers BEFORE installing the new drivers and CCC if you choose. ATI is a bit finicky in this area. You may want to install CCC so you can get to some real advanced settings of you video card. Also... I struggled installing a new video card this week. Boy... What could be easier than installing a video card right?? Well... After hours of fooling around and I kicked the dog a couple of times (just kidding), turns out all I had to do was change my CMOS to initialize a PCI video card (even though it did not exist), before initializing the AGP slot. I know this has nothing to do with software... Just a tip. I was ready to RMA a brand new video card and I probably spent hours getting my rig restored after I screwed it all up trying to get the card to work before I found the problem. The real point is that CCC told me that I had a problem. The new card did work, but the performance was VERY poor until I figured out the real problem. CCC adds a bit of bloat but definitely has a useful side.
spookytooth
Same problem here, MyDVD loads then shuts down leaving message that VideoWave 10 has etc.........., checked the DirectX file is in place, uninstalled program - shut down, rebooted and re-installed. The same thing happened. Am still using v7.7 of the ATI driver so I'm discounting the bug problem, but I did an unninstall/reinstall just to be sure. Everything else in EMC10 works well so what is the problem with MyDVD/videoWave 10?
ablancha
I am using an NVidia Quadro FX3500, have acceleration turned off in WMP, and still cannot start MyDVD. Does anyone know if a solution is forthcoming? ACB

cchavigny
I found this d3dx9_33.dll was not in my system. I downloaded it from this site http://www.fichier-dll.fr/d3dx9-33.dll,4760?x=154&y=20 copy it in my system 32 folder, works now.
gi7omy
You'd be as well to post to a new thread - this one was dealing with a problem with ATI cards and their drivers. However, you do need the latest drivers from nVidia and also the latest DirectX from Microsoft (this isn't an automatic update - you have to download and install it yourself)
