Info Requested: Runtime Error-Virtual Call- R6025

John at Roxio

Question

For anyone still getting the error in the title. Can you include details on what modules the error is occurring in? Right now I have seen posts that it happens in the following modules:

RoxWatchTray10.exe

MediaManager10.exe

VideoWave 10.exe

Also, if you were able to resolve the issue can you list your solution along with the module that the error occurred in. That would really help us out.

I am having Runtime Error 6025 while in VideoWave10.exe. It happens when I select the pan & zoom botton, double clicking on music files to edit and video edit. I also get the C++ Visual Runtime Error at the same time.

OK I hear what you say John But the fact of the matter is I was sold something knowing I couldnt use it, which I needed to use urgently and unfortunately I deleted my previouse version of EMC.

As I dont necessarily need all the bells and whistles let me ask you a question. Does EMC 9 have any problems and does it handle MP4 videos if so instead of me asking for my money back you allow me to download EMC 9

Basically what you are experiencing is a 'known issue' - it affects SOME computer setups but not all. In fact, it's relatively rare in comparison to the number of programs sold.

Roxio are aware of it and are trying to pin down why some people (and a small minority of people) are experiencing it

No-one could possibly know what computer combinatopns would be affected - unfortunately, it's something in your setup that is causing the fault - I don't mean to imply that you have a badly set-up computer, but more that Roxio does need all the information it can obtain to help cure this and sitting on the side taking pot-shots and screaming about it won't help

This is only the second time I had any trouble with Roxio Software like this( Runtime error R6025). The last version I really had troubles with was version-6.0 and I believe my problems was with will a totally different issue. Version 7.0, 7.5, 8.0 and 9.0 installed and operated fine on my computer. I know it frustrating as I am at this point, but you have to give Roxio the opportunity to try to make it right. It may take a few days or weeks. Take a proactive approach and try to provide John and the Roxio team with the information so they can to create a fix as soon as they possibility can.

I'm not a developer. Stopping back in here to say we are still working on it tells you just about nothing and opens up the discussion to more questions that I don't have the answer to at this point.

That being said, we are still working on this issue and I'll update you folks when I have something concrete.

I have this same error, but it only occurs on bootup (and it occurs every time I boot the machine) -- it does not occur when I run any of the programs.

On bootup I get an error message that says,

Runtime Error!

Program...mon Files\Roxio Shared\10.0\SharedCOM\RoxWatchTray10.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to teminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support tem for more information.

When I press OK, I get a second error which says,

Runtime Error!

Program...mon Files\Roxio Shared\10.0\SharedCOM\RoxWatchTray10.exe

R6205

-pure vital function call

I then have to click OK again. This is very annoying and it happens every time I boot up. I have done a clean install (completely clean) several times, and I'm able to bootup ok for 1 or two times, and then the error comes back on bootup.

I have a Gateway 700 GX Gamer machine with

Intel P4 3.2 gHz with hyperthreading

2 gigs ram

NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Ultra with 256 megs

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

Any help would be appreciated. This is most annoying.

Disable all Roxio functions via msconfig.

I too have ECM10 running on Vista Home Premium. I created one DVD and now I'm getting the R6025 and Videowave10exe errors.

I checked to make sure there was not a check mark in the ATI program as was suggested but there was not.

Don't understand why it worked once and now it isn't.

Like eveyone else, hopefully there will be a answer and we can use the software.

Thanks

Disable all Roxio functions via msconfig.

If I disable the Roxio stuff in MSConfig, the errors definitely go away, BUT EMC 10 then will not work. If I click on the icon, I see an hourglass for a few seconds, then it dies down, and the program never even comes up.

If I do not disable the Roxio stuff, I get the bootup errors, but the EMC 10 program is fully functional, and operates flawlessly.

So -- your solution is not a solution for me, and is essentially tantamount to uninstalling the program, because the program cannot be used if the things causing the errors at bootup are disabled.

I've got bad news for all of us -- there is no hope, in my opinion. In doing a Google search on this problem, I found numerous forum postings reporting the same problem a year ago, and earlier, with EMC 9, 8, and 7. It appears that the problem has occurred in every version of EMC since 7 for at least some people. So, John's comments that they are "working on it," in 2007, when I've seen the problem reported in posts dating back to 2004, is not very encouraging, and perhaps, not even really true.

Go to start, run and type in 'msconfig' - in that, uncheck the tick box for RoxWatch# and any other apps you don't want to run at boot (where # is the version number). Reboot and tell the nag screen that you intended disabling a startup service

How many of the Roxio items can I uncheck in msconfig?

I have been in contact with support. They have had me run the Windows Cleanup Utility, reinstall EMC10 (done that three times), they sent me a file to download and they said it would take care of the problem, didn't. The file was a zip with Contents in it.

As for getting a refund, I would ask. All they can say is no. I don't mean to be flip about it, but I also had EMC 9 and then upgraded. I guess I expect someone to figure it out!

Ok, the patch is done, and ready for someone at Roxio to test in there lab. It took me a little longer because I wanted to do a little testing. And yes, it fixes the ATI CCC problem without having to reinstall drivers.

Oh, and yes it will work on nDivia and Intel Integrateds as well

So where is the patch? Its now Nov 28. If Roxio won't have it I certainly am willing to give it a try.

I too am getting the R6205 Error with MediaManager10. When I try to start the RoxMediaDB10 service, I get :

Could not start the RoxMediaDB10 service on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Is there a way to just disable the MediaManager?

Hey John.... the posts are growing with people who are having the runtime error problems.

Can we get an update on this problem? Guidance? Is there going to be an update to this application?

I said to myself before I bought this product, it was strange there was not trial for EMC10... I will never again buy any software that I cannot try it before I buy it.

Coming up on one week of hell trying to get this product to work. I am know at the mercy of "level 2 support" BUYER BEWARE!

I was chatting with an on-line Roxio tech and they told me to disable Windows Media Acceleration in my ATI control center.... guess what... that is only there for x1000 cards. I have an x800

Just looking for some help!

Guys - please

This thread was started by John for reporting this problem - don't just fire up posts asking for 'suggestions' - post your system specs and details of where the problem occurred so that the guys can work on it and try to develop a patch

Good point. I dont mind if you want to throw in some details of what you have already tried, or even provide some suggestions. But simply posting and asking what you should do (how about trying some of the same things other folks tried) is kind of making this thread drift off from the original intent.

As many as youi want - all it does is stop them from loading up at boot - they can still be called manually

Are any required for the others to work?

Walt had previously stated it happened when he disabled the RoxMediaDB service. What is that? I had gone into msconfig and disabled all of the Roxio's. Will try enabling and see if it helps.

I get the problem with VideoWave after trying to open a saved project. The program opens ok.

Booted the computer, opened VW10 from Programs and got the same Run Time error and immediate shutdown.

Checked RoxMediaDB in msconfig and the program came up and runs. Still have problems with it hanging up. Have learned to save frequently. I think I was able to save even when the screen was locked.
