Info Requested: Runtime Error-Virtual Call- R6025

John at Roxio

Question

For anyone still getting the error in the title. Can you include details on what modules the error is occurring in? Right now I have seen posts that it happens in the following modules:

RoxWatchTray10.exe

MediaManager10.exe

VideoWave 10.exe

Also, if you were able to resolve the issue can you list your solution along with the module that the error occurred in. That would really help us out.

I have this same error every time I start my computer. The Title bar of the error message says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library". The message itself says:

Runtime Error!

Program...mon Files\Roxio Shared\10.0\SharedCOM\RoxWatchTray10.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to teminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support tem for more information.

The only button on the message is "OK". When I press it, I get a second error. Again it has the "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library". The message itself says:

Runtime Error!

Program...mon Files\Roxio Shared\10.0\SharedCOM\RoxWatchTray10.exe

R6205

-pure vital function call

Again, the only button on the message is "OK"

I have hadmore problems with EMC10 than I have time to list here, but here's a brief outline:

1. trouble upgrading from EMC9 to EMC10 (the update appeared to work, but then I have problems later).

2. contacted Roxio by email and they responded by sending me instructions to uninstall, remove registry entries, and reinstall.

3. upon reinstall, EMC10 wouldn't take my CD Key

4. contacted Roxio again by email and get SAME canned response about uninstalling, removing registy entries, and reinstalling. Apparently, this is just the response that they send out either to everyone that contacts them regardless of the problem, or the response they send when they just don't know how to fix something. My email responses from Roxio have literally been EXACTLY the same with just the name of the responder changed.

5. Upon uninstalling, removing registry entries, reinstalling other programs on my computer stopped working properly, so I reformatted my drive and started completely over starting with the Operating System. I have downloaded ALL microsoft updates, updated ALL of my drivers, updated ALL of my software, defragmented the drive, etc.

6. Roxio worked fine for a couple of days and then I started seeing this message, despite the fact that I have not downloaded ANY updates to my computer, ANY updates to my hardware drivers, or ANY new software.

7. Now, for no reason that I can tell, whenever I click on any of the icons to start Roxio, nothing happens. I tried the desktop icon, the Start/Program icons, the Quick Launch icons, and the icons in the Windows Explorer C:\Programs\Roxio...

8. I contacted Roxio over a week ago with print screens of these 2 error messages and either they don't know what to do, they are tired of responding to me with the same canned response, or they are just ignoring me.

My computer has:

Windows XP Home SP2 with ALL current updates applied

Intel Celeron 2.8GHz

704 MB RAM (it's really 768, but it's a notebook computer with integrated graphics card)

my antivirus is OneCare 2.0

I have NO registry cleaners installed, nor have I used any since reformatting, reinstalling, etc.

Please let me know what other specs would be helpful.

I've just installed the software, twice, and rebooted each time. The error, when trying to open MyDVD and MyDVD Express is:

Runtime error!

\RoxWizardLauncher10.exe... R6025 -pure virtual function call.

Please help. Thanks.

Have you tried any of the suggested solutions in this thread or on this forum?

If I disable the Roxio stuff in MSConfig, the errors definitely go away, BUT EMC 10 then will not work. If I click on the icon, I see an hourglass for a few seconds, then it dies down, and the program never even comes up.

If I do not disable the Roxio stuff, I get the bootup errors, but the EMC 10 program is fully functional, and operates flawlessly.

So -- your solution is not a solution for me, and is essentially tantamount to uninstalling the program, because the program cannot be used if the things causing the errors at bootup are disabled.

Wrong. All it does is stops the programs from running at startup. You can still run those programs manually. It works for me.

I've got bad news for all of us -- there is no hope, in my opinion. In doing a Google search on this problem, I found numerous forum postings reporting the same problem a year ago, and earlier, with EMC 9, 8, and 7. It appears that the problem has occurred in every version of EMC since 7 for at least some people. So, John's comments that they are "working on it," in 2007, when I've seen the problem reported in posts dating back to 2004, is not very encouraging, and perhaps, not even really true.

Greg

The key words in your last paragraph "some people". I haven't had that problem, and I have had all versions since version 4. I don't remember any post about that problem in EMC 7 or 7.5.

I have isolated and resolved my problem for Runtime Error-Virtual Call- R6025 when going into MYDVD and clicking import. :D

I have an ATI Radeon 9800 pro in a Dell Dimension. When I first installed EMC10 it told me to go to the ATI site for new drivers. I did this before going further. I could not get MYDVD to work at all. I tried everything in this forum. I was ready to toss EMC10.

I did a restore and then reinstalled EMC10 without updating my driver. MYDVD worked fine. Then I updated the driver again and once again MYDVD stopped working. I then went back to the oldest driver on the website, still NOGO. I restored and reinstalled EMC10 again and MYDVD is working. My ATI driver is 6.14.10.6476 dated 2004. Apparently this is not one of the drivers listed on the ATI site. It must not be a Catalyst driver. So I'm fine now, so long as I don't update my ATI driver anytime soon.

;) Now if I can just figure how to select a section of video in edit mode... Things should be a little bit more intutive to Microsoft standard.

Yes, as stated in a previous post, I got the error messages in MyDVD Express and Plug+Burn. The message is RoxWizardLauncher10.exe... R6025 -pure virtual function call. MyDVD and VideoWave don't open.

As for the suggestion that I try the solutions posted to this thread, I don't see any solutions posted. A clean install is A) above the level of expertise of the average user, B) not worth the potential "irreparable damage" to the user's hard drive, and C) frankly, not my job.

I have HP a250n Pavillion, built-in CD/DVD, Windows XP.

Greg - what happened in earlier versions isn't what is happening now.

This fault is totally different - the earlier ones were all down to a different thing and there was a cure which doesn't work with this one or, if it does, is totally hit and miss

it appears to be almost all modules. the latest was roxwatch10.exe. I have also seen the errors with wizards, and a regular pop up of interactive issues. i have tried reinstalling with no better luck.

I ran into the same problem with EMC 10 and fixed the R6025 problem by following the instructions noted above. Thanks for the information!

I followed those same instructions and it did nothing to help my R6025 problems. I'm still waiting on Roxio to announce a resolution.

Is there anyone from Roxio willing to step up acknowledge this pervasive problem and, secondly, inform all of the purchasers of this software when they will get a fix???

I too am getting the R6205 Error with MediaManager10. When I try to start the RoxMediaDB10 service, I get :

Could not start the RoxMediaDB10 service on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Is there a way to just disable the MediaManager?

ACB

Go to start, run and type in 'msconfig' - in that, uncheck the tick box for RoxWatch# and any other apps you don't want to run at boot (where # is the version number). Reboot and tell the nag screen that you intended disabling a startup service

If you check you'll find that not only are they aware of it, but they've asked for details on what machines are havibng the problem. As you may be aware it's not all installations where it happens, just some so feed back to try to isolate the cause is needed

If you look at the thread heading it says clearly 'Info Requested'

Basically what you are experiencing is a 'known issue' - it affects SOME computer setups but not all. In fact, it's relatively rare in comparison to the number of programs sold.

Do we have evidence for this assertion? I realise that people rarely report absence of problems, but a heck of a lot of folks here seem to have been clobbered, and we all know that for every victim who turns up here there are many more suffering in silence.

I can't recall any other software release from a major publisher with such a glaring hole. And I have tried more than my share of "first releases".

The real surprise is that it did not arise in beta testing.

Exactly what did "Roxio" tell you to do???

I am asking because there is nothing in this entire thread from Roxio telling anyone to do anything???

I have been in contact with support. They have had me run the Windows Cleanup Utility, reinstall EMC10 (done that three times), they sent me a file to download and they said it would take care of the problem, didn't. The file was a zip with Contents in it.

As for getting a refund, I would ask. All they can say is no. I don't mean to be flip about it, but I also had EMC 9 and then upgraded. I guess I expect someone to figure it out!

Thank you for the explanation Susan you answered my question and then some!

However you do not seem to realize that in order to fix something you have to possess some staying power

Support is working with you and if you bail out now all you have done is wasted their time as well as everyone else's as a 'fix' was never found…

You assumed that the Content disc was a mistake. How do you know they were not trying to test something that was included in the Content disc?

:( Hi all .. I'm am new to this .. only just purchased the program and tried to use it and like all of year here I get the runtime error on Roxwatch 10. It looks like I can't do anything to do with videos, can't even start most of the video parts of the program.

Program:...\Common Files\RoxioShared\10.0\SharedCom\RoxWatch10.exe

This Application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

R6025

-Pure virtual function call

My purpose for buying this program was to do something with the footage from my camcorder whilst I have a few hours to spare ... now I am stuck with a program with which I can't do anything. Unlike some others here I do not have the previous version of Easy Media Creator to reinstall.

As this is a known problem for which there is as yet no workaround I think it would be a gesture of good faith if Roxio provided me with the previous version so that I can at least use that one until the issues with this new one are sorted out.

I am having the runtime errors which starts with the RoxWatchTray and all else fails thereafter. I am running Win x64 Ultimate. I have reinstalled and installed with Win Cleanup tool, disabled all startup items, disabled all non-windows services, including defender, and MS Firewall, Anti-Virus.

I contacted TS and they took me on an adventure of software reinstalling. I just chatted with a tech today and they said "I have seen this error occur with ATI's Catalyst Control Center (CCC) installed. In the Avivo Video section, there is a setting under "All Settings" to use Windows Media Video Acceleration. Simply disabling that setting in CCC allows the program to run perfectly."

reading these posts do not convince me that this will fix it and that a customer (I think the name was Lazer)found this issue, but was unrelated to the Runtime Errors.

Please offer help besides uninstall/reinstall.... it does not fix anything.

Another recommendation is to inform your download users that they should follow an install document of some sort.

I have about 30 hours into trying to fix this problem and I am starting to run out of paitence. Please HELP!

It didn't arise in beta for the simple reason that it just didn't occur

The 'known issue' is based on just that - it's a known issue which does NOT affect most installations. If it affected the majority, then it would have appeared in beta and there would be a LOT more posts about it

I don't have the problem on this machine - and I quad boot (XP Pro, XP 64, Vista Ultimate and Linux)

In the mean time - please ONLY post reports of what apps are involved and your system specs - those are essential to try to get to the bottom of this

Just for the fun of it, I had installed roxio 9.0 and it appears to work w/o any problems. I moved a project from VW to MYDVD and no runtime error

What is strange there is not much difference between Roxio 9 and Roxio 10 in regards to videowave and MyDVD and My DVD Express . These are the programs that I use mostly use. I also use diskcopier as well. So why the runtime error in My DVD. It appears the major difference between the two suites are the addition of the mobile media devices. I know that Roxio 10 is geared more for Windows Vista and not Windows XP, which I have. But there are many who have windows XP and they have no problems. I have followed about everything on these boards to date to remidy the situation. I am very frustrated because I never had problems like this before.

I really hope a solution for the runtime error is found soon.

Problem fixed.

I found this on another thread......

I couldn't find the option in my WMP (v.11.0.5721.5230) to turn off DirectX acceleration. I was searching for instructions for how to do so and ran across a posting at http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=27504 that said if you have an "ATI card with Catalyst Control Center, then you have to go to CCC, advanced mode, Video/All settings, scroll to bottom and uncheck "Windows Media Video Acceleration', click Apply OK."

I unchecked the Windows Media Video Acceleration and now everything works great.

Thanks.................................

I purchased EMC 10 today, did a complete deinstall of EMC 9 and installed 10. I installed the full package and rebooted, as instructed, when the install completed. During the system reload, the RoxMediaDB10 service went 90% CPU for about a minute (I have Task Manager auto-start during boot) and then gave me the R6025 error. I clicked OK and it went 90% again for about two minutes and then dropped to nothing.

I'm running an ATI All-In-Wonder 2006 PCIE video card, followed the directions quoted above and rebooted - the error did not recur. Since the reboot I have tested each of the failing apps mentioned in this forum (CinePlayer, MyDVD, MyDVDExpress, PhotoSuite and Media Manager) without a problem.

I'm now going to attempt a CD copy followed by burning an ISO file to a DVD. Wich me luck! :)

I get the error when launching MediaManager10.exe and VideoWave10.exe but only if the RoxioMediaDB10 service has been stopped or disabled. This has been mention several times in the forums. Also Photosuite gives the "... needs to close message" and MediaImport does not even launch.

I get 2 error messages popping up; first its the Abnormal Program Termination message and then after clicking Ok the 6025 message pops up. If I don't close the 1st error message but only move it almost off-screen I can continue with the programs without any problem

My solution of course is to make sure that the MediaDB10 service is always running or at least on Manual

I ran more test, including a clean install per the MSFT clean uninstaller. I reinstalled everything completly and nothing has changed I am still unable to creat a DVD.

I have the ATI 1300 256MGB Video card and have not had any issues running anything.

At this point I am not convinced it is a Video issue as described, the main reason and I'll try this tonight is the program accesses the burner, it lists on the bottom the unit and how much is available. The funny thing is that the unit list a percent used, when there is no disc in the drive is shows 6.8MB used, I had a blank DVD-R inserted and it told be 47MB was used.

I have not tried burning a disc with the classic yet, I will do this after work today. Has anybody experiencing this problem burned any CD's with the software since installing?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Paul

I was able to burn a cd no problem, still looking for the answer to this problem.

I am having the same issue with the Funtime error 6025. I have been asked by Roxio support to do a clean intall. Of course the NTLDR problem came back which I have fixed twice. I do see there is an update to EMC10 to fix this problem. I hope they have incorporated that fix in the released product now.

BUT, the clean install did correct the 6025 error, but only temporarily. I was able to finish two VideoWave productions... that look pretty nice, I may add. BUT.....6025 is BACK!

I have also done several of the "try this...try that's" from Roxio. Most all of them are listed in this thread somewhere, including the Windows services, update DirectX, video adapter driver updates, audio driver updates, raising hardware acceleration, turning off ATI driver WMP, etc. etc. At this time they seem to be guessing. I understand they are looking into it, but patience here is running out on the "stabs" at solutions.

The only thing I can THINK of that actually "broke" the software is when I double started VideoWave. I didn't see any response, so I clicked again. It tried to bring up duplicate copies of the software. Seems there was an error message...don't recall exact words. Ever since then it has not worked...6025 error.

SO... A few items for the support guys:

IBM ThinkCentre

Windows XP

ATI Radeon X1650 display adapter with 500K memory

BTW. I was told you can get a refund you process a request from Digital River directly at 800-656-5443. There was mention of a 30-day refund guarantee if you purchased from Roxio. I haven't done this yet. I bought my copy from buy.com I was supposed to get a free Shaker mp3 player, but that never came. Arrrggg.

Why don't you give a call, suggesting that. :)

Think they'd listen?

Is anyone keeping track of how long it takes to sort this one out? A month now and counting. Will we see a solution before George Bush leaves the White House?

Interesting to see folks reporting related video driver issues. Sadly, this does not seem to be the only factor.
