Cannot Buring A Cd On Toast 6

lezsee

Question

:) I have a 450 DP G4 OS 10.3.9 computer with 100GB of hard drive and Toast 6 and IDVD installed. I am unable to burn a CD( no problem with the DVD) on my pioneer dv 105 drive;I keep getting a message about "no lead in or out and sensor/hardware problems"...I have read all of the problems on line and did what was said to no avail.....

Now I think my problem might be be "no classic 9.0" installed on the computer???? each time I try to up grade the firmware,on the pioneer, it ask for classic;now I have tried to re-install 9.0 but it says that it cannot find OS classic folder????....when I try to install it.

I am using the OS 9 disc....do i have to start at the beginning( 7.5.5) and work my way up to OS 9?

I am confused....and do not know which way to turn or which group to ask for help.....my "hand" is reaching out...could someone take it and steer me toward the right place to get help?

This could be one of several different possible problems. Does the drive play CDs okay?

You could be correct that it is a firmware issue, but I'm skeptical. You don't need OS 9 to install a firmware update. You do need to go to www.xlr8yourmac.com, go to its F.A.Q. and then click the DVD link to find the posts with instructions on how to update firmware on Pioneer drives in OS X.

You might try a laser cleaning disc as another possible repair (the drive uses a different laser for burning CDs than the one used for burning DVDs).

I've experienced a problem where my drive couldn't burn any kind of discs, and that required my reinstalling the OS. But since yours burns DVDs then I don't know what the problem might be. It could be a failing drive.

I downloaded the DVR flash 2.0.1 and upgraded the pioneer...but when I put a CD in,it is rejected before it's completed with following...Sensekey=Hardware Error

Sense Code= 0x44

Internal Target Failure

Then the next one comes up...

Sense Key=Hardware Error

Sense Code= 0x44,0xD6

internal target failure

Lead-in or lead-out failed to be written

Then the last pop up says: you have installed something that Mac could not read

So I am still on the curve:-)java script:emoticon(':)',%20'smid_2')
