ERROR Spanning Discs, Entire Set RUINED

surface

Question

If your like me and for 4 years Toast has ruined 1 out of 12 discs, DONT USE THE SPAN DISC FEATURE !!

I have a mission critical project that is due tomorrow morning and need to burn 80 gigs onto these 11 dvd+DL's. My client expects this at 10 am. I'm will be getting paid very well for this if i can deliver.

What happend i was on disc 8 of 11. About fourty minutes to burn and verify each disc. Toast or something HUNG my entire system after a burn error warning that i clicked ok on to acknowledge it's message. After that the disc drawer refused to open. Toast Hung. After force quitting my system i opened up my save .disc file in the hopes that the uncaring people at Toast would care about a situation like this and program Toast accordingly. Not so. So now it's 11pm and i get to stay up all night and hope that i can successfully burn 11 disc with no errors or i lose almost 3 grande! It's gonna be a fun night.

Hey Roxio moderator.

Is there a solution to this problem? Will there ever be one?

Don't buy Roxio products. They don't work on a $5000 Mac Pro!

Toast can't repair bad media and a bad burner. Sony is not always reliable (I would never use it for important stuff), and Apple ships very bad drives in the Macs. MacPro could have anything from Pioneer to LG and most likely outdated firmware. It's much better to get an after market Pioneer drive and update the firmware to the latest.

Toast will prompt to burn a disc again if it fails to burn one. You should have been ask to re-burn disc 5. If you quit Toast, you have to start over. There are lots of reasons for this.

I spanned 250GB to 10 Blu-ray discs and didn't have any problems. I don't know what kind of media you are using, but cheap media will cause problems like this and it has nothing to do with Toast.

Also make sure you have the latest version of the software.

Does your client have a Mac to restore, or are they using a PC.

Good luck with you project.

Toast did not prompt to burn a disc again! It went on about median error sense code -43 with an 'OK' button that i clicked and then it just HUNG EVERYTHING. The first time it did this (has happened twice now) i waited almost 2 hours before concluding my only choice was to force quite the machine. I slid open the burner drawer and it wasn't spinning at all.

Does Roxio ever comment on this forum? Is Roxio planning a fix for this problem of which many other people are having? I'm not sure what good it does for Roxio to just hire (i hope they pay you?) a guy to sit on the forums and debate with everyone about whether it's Toast or not. You would think Roxio would look at this as free bug testing and start releasing some fixes! I mean, you have people entering your site and giving you very specific feedback and such!

Client want to troll through the date before handing over renders for duplication. that's not the point, the point is why would Toast be designed WITHOUT the feature of being able to pick up where it left off when burning massive disc sets? Imagine your 10 (expensive) Blu-Ray discs having to be thrown away the 9th disc in. that's a lot of money but most importantly time. I was up till 3 burning when the 5th disc failed.. again, one of those medium sense errors -43 or something. Whatever. Sony DVD+DL media. Brand new. Brand new mac-pro. Software is not engineered with quality and consistency in mind. The end user pays for this.

Roxio; any plans on fixing this annoying DESIGN FLAW?
