Question

Help Please

I just upgraded from the basic version 5 to the EMC ver 8 and now my dell laptops cd writer wont format a cd or recognize it. In fact the Direct CD wont even show any of the drive letters

When i use the EMC format option it tells me the disk is not correct. If i uninstall EMC 8 and reinstall Direct CD verson 5 it works fine...... did i just waste 80 bucks!

Direct CD is now called Drag to Disc. Not many people here even recommend using packet writers because it isn't that reliable. The burn engine in EMC8 now totally relies on the BURNER to properly recognize the disc you have inserted. It is very important to have updated firmware for your burner. If you have an older burner that is no longer supported with firmware updates, then EMC8 may not work with that drive.

Let's have a peek at your system specs. We should be able to tell you if the upgrade was a good idea or not.

I have numerous hp dvd+rw disc that I have filled using easy cd creator. Now i have a new computer with Media Creator LE Dell version on it and it will not format or erase the disc.

You gave absolutely no useful information, except that you have a version of software that came with the Dell. You need to contact them for help on their software.

Dell does not install Roxio software on their PCs. They are using Sonic which has a packet writer called DLA.

DLA is addressed through the RecordNow interface.
