sounds to me like the burn was for some "binary" data. What's that old saying ? "Giberish in, Giberish out" or was that "Garbage" ?

A little more information on exactly what was being burned and how it all started would be helpful.

Burned about 3 GB of various files - some binary, some text. Mostly office documents (word, excel, ppt, etc) plus some code samples. Nothing spectacular - I've burned it with Nero plenty of times before and not had a problem.

The text files appear to have about 1/2 of their contents as they did on the hard drive & the rest has been replaced with binary characters. It looks like what you see when you open a .exe with Notepad.

grandpabruce - what setting could I have chosen that would have mangled my files?
