I Miss Audio Central Player (creator 6)

eugfarr

Question

I have just upgraded to EMC8 from Easy CD/DVD Creator 6.

Ripping an audio CD to MP3 took about 2-3 minutes on Creator 6.

By upgrading to version 8 I thought I could cut that time in half.

What I did find was that it took 9-13 minutes to rip a CD to MP3 (CD quality 128).

Perhaps I am doing something wrong. I am using the same computer with the same components.

I will have to contact Roxio and explain my findings.

Has anyone had similar experiences? :)

I just dropped in to see what was being said about EMC8 as I am trying to decide whether to upgrade from ECM6.

Audio Capture & CD creation is what I use EMC for the most so based on what is said in this thread I think I will just stick with ECM6.

Can't argue with your reasoning.

The software has less to do with the speed of ripping audio CDs then you would think.

- Shorter CDs will take less time

- CDs having problems reading in a specific drive will take longer

- We can't make the software read the drive any faster then it is capable of reading

I'd be curious to here from someone else doing a comparison ripping the SAME disc in both 6 and 8.

The most you can do is try another drive that may read the disc faster, ensure DMA is enabled on your CD/DVD drive, and ensure you don't have a lot of background processes taking up resources.

I just installed 7.5 Ihad to wait until I built a new machine that could run XP Pro. I bought 7.5 to get support for an Epson R200. Just to print on CD's. I was running 98SE. When I went to install 7.5 I found out that it wasn;t supported by 98SE. So while I was waiting for a new machine 8.0 came out. Just my luck. When I installed 7.5 I couldn't find AUDIO CENTRAL. This is what I used to listen to my collection. I ripped my entire collectionof CD's. Ended up with 15Gb of music. Much easier to deal with. CD's went to storage. I want AUDIO CENTRAL back.

I also use it mostly for audio creation, have since ver2.The part I was really interested in that ver 8 has is the DVD Audio Disc feature,I really like the discs it turns out.If all you're looking to do is create audio cd's then stick with the version you have or go to an alternate app like Paul says.

Just in case you want to, you can still have any part of v6 installed and use it with 8 with the exception of Drag to Disc.

over here in the UK we are not that fast as you US types, but it was apparent that version 8 whilst very sophisticated in many ways [especially re DVDs] the popular usage of audio capture and CD creation from whatever sources was inferior to version 6 - so version 6 stays on board! A curious development that must have disappointed some purchasers who just thought they were getting a superior edition of v6 or 7. Comments/

Can't say I disagree but speaking for me only, 8's audio capabilities are fine. Besides, there's so many free apps for audio, why would you buy 8. It's strengths are certainly on the video side....again, speaking based on my usage only.
