Upgrade Version 8.0

I have version 7.5 and qualify for the upgrade price of $49. My 7.5 was also an upgrade price; however, it was not a stand alone product.

 

My question is do I have to have my prior version in order for the 8.0 upgrade to install? Is the Upgrade version 8.0 a stand alone product? I do not want to keep version 7.5 hanging around in order to re-install version 8 again should the need arise (ie..new computer, computer crash, etc.)

If you order or buy the boxed version, it shouldn't require any previous version to be installed. I'm not sure about the download version. I just saw EMC8 at BestBuy this week for $49 after rebates. That's about as cheap as I've seen it at retail stores.
