Geforce 6600 Not Recognized As Capture Device

I have a PNY Geforce 6200 with VIVO. I later found out the svideo is for OUTPUT only. It doesn't capture. Make sure your card is designed to capture. Did it come with any capture software? You may have to use that software instead of Media Capture.

My GeForce 6600 does not show as a video capture device in Media Import using Easy Media Creator 8. Has anyone had similar problems or know if this card is supported?

Thanks

I did a quick google search and could not find a reference to the 6600 being used as a capture device. It only talks about output as a gaming card.

I'll be the third to confirm but with first hand knowledge. There is no capture function built into the card/chips. :) You will have to buy a separate device or card but be forewarned that most manufacturers use proprietary design that requires that you use their bundled software to capture. I haven't used a USB capture device since before USB 2 but now the transfer rate is up, these are probably the best way to go. If you have pci space, you can buy a card (with bundled software) for under $50 (US).

I have been lucky, I originally bought Studio with a AV/DV pci card and it has worked perfectly with V7 and V 8. (The card works but I never use the Studio program - V8 does everything I want it to.) I'm not sure why Roxio doesn't have a version with a bundled capture device or at least a page that lists which ones are likely to be OK. I had an ATI AIW card that worked well for me but other people have had problems with that card.

The card came with an adapter that has an s-video input and output but this must be a generic adapter from EVGA. I guess I'll try and find a USB capture as I have no free slots. Thanks for your help

Hmmm, I'll have to look in the box of parts that came with my computer.
