I Fix It, I use windows cleanup Utility, and i install the EMC7.5 program again and it worked.

THX :)

I am having the same problem. The thing with my situation is that it was working and then I had to do a restore on my system. They suggested that I remove other burning software but I really don't want to do that as it was working before with other burning software such as Record Now.

Can you tell me what exactly you did with the Windows cleanup utility?

Thanks

If everything was working a week ago, try using the Windows XP System Restore app

Start --> (All) Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore

You may be able to restore your system back to a short time ago when this was working. My guess is you installed another application which includes some sort of cd burning functionality, iTunes, MusicMatch, or something like that. It would be helpful if we knew which if that is the case...

I actually had to do a full system restore on my unit - back to factory build. It was working before the restore with other burning software installed - including Record Now, Ahead Nero, MusicMatch etc. so I am not sure why they say that this is a problem.

In Windows XP SP2 you can set a program to run in Windows 95/98/2000/or NT compatibility mode. If you were attempting to run an old version of Roxio that wont work in XP you may have set this. In the registry this can be associated with the program name (or the path).

I had this trouble with ECDC6, it is likely the same problem. In fact, despite the resolution of some board members, and without further lowering the etiquette on this forum (which must drive people away), if it quacks like a duck it probably is a duck.

Right Click on the program icon -> properties -> compatibility -> uncheck run this program in compatibility mode for: -> click apply or ok.

Microsoft came up with the idea of creating common files that are used by multiple programs by multiple vendors. Then if someone (often Microsoft) installs a different version of that shared .dll, none of the other programs that use it can run.

Therefore, if all of those programs were working together happily, if you installed or updated one of them, that is the likely culplrit.

Lynn

Would you happen to know which Microsoft application may be causing the problem? I am wondering if the culprit is Office 2003. I did have an initial problem with the installation related to Office 2003 (posted in another discussion forum). I will try uninstalling the Office 2003 to see if that works. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for all the help Lynn but I am still having the same problems. I am still trying different things to get this running but I am just amazed at how hard a lot of people have to work to get this program to install with all the features working.

Let you know if I find a solution.

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!!! HOLY #!#!@

Seriously....Here is what I did. If you check the dates you will see that this has been a very drawn out process but I hope that this helps someone out there...

Please note that I had, for the most part, given up on this product. So this my getting it to work was surprising to me and I guess due to some luck....

I am going to outline what I did. For those that don't want to read all of it, skip to the bottom.

1. After removing EMC 7.5 from my machine using the Window Clean Install tool, I restarted my machine.

2. I removed Record Now and MusicMatch Jukebox from my machine (as much as I could - my drive has a partition containing these as they came bundled with my machine) using the control panel Add and Remove.

3. I turned off any Antivirus software.

4. I reinstalled EMC 7.5 and restarted - NO LUCK

5. I did the:

Regsvr32 "C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Roxio Shared\\Dragon\\Dragon.dll"

Regsvr32 "C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Roxio Shared\\Dragon\\DragonRs.dll" with no luck

6. I tried to repair the program by using the installation CD. It detected that I did not have the Drag to Disc working and said that it was installing new files but it still did not work.

7. In giving up on this product, I decided to install different components/programs that did the same job. I installed Sonic MyDVD 6, Record Now 7.22, Ahead Nero 5.5 and MusicMatch Jukebox 8.2. I also reinstalled my Norton Antivirus software. After each program (not including the Norton) I tried to repair the program to no avail.

8. Somewhere along the line, I long function of my DVD combo drive and had to resolve that using a combination of reistalling the drivers and using utilities provided by HP.

9. I installed Adobe Premier Pro 7 and Arcsoft Showbiz. After each install, this time, I tried a full removal and reinstallation followed by step 5. But that still did not work. I also made sure that my Office 2003 and my Windows XP home were up to date. Still no luck on the program. At this point, my goal was just to install any program that I used to try to get the files I needed installed on my machine.

10. In trying to burn a DVD using Sonic, I discovered that it was not working fully (I had only burned CDs to this point) so in checking out the Sonic support site, I came across a Sonic Record Engine update. Here is the link http://support.sonic.com/dwnld/engine.asp?. Please note that this gets you to a login in screen of sorts. You have to had registered your Sonic MyDVD to go further. It basically asks you for your name and e-mail address that you used to register and then it sends you a code that you have to use to log in.

11. After installing this update, I restarted my machine and behold...Drag to disc came up, Disc copier came up and Creator Classic came up without any error messages. I even got the warning about not copying copywrited materials as if this was the first time that I used it. I haven't actually tested it but at this point I think that it should work. Will let you know if it DOES NOT work.

Good Luck to the rest of you.

I just tested Creator Classic in creating a music CD and it works fine - I would imagine the others work as well. Just so that you know, I still have MusicMatch 8.2, Ahead Nero 5.5 and Record Now 7.22 on my machine. So, this would seem to support my previous opinion about them just wanting you to use their burning software and not the competitions...but just my opinion.

I'd suggest you go back and edit your email address out of your post - if it's not already too late.

Well, nothing seems to have worked....

I have uninstalled my Microsoft Office 2003 (Word, Excel, One Note, Outlook, Project, Visio, Powerpoint, publisher, InfoPath and Office Tools) as well as Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition. I uninstalled them either through the Add/Remove Programs or through the Microsoft Clean Install. I even uninstalled Quark Xpress 6.0 passport edition but no luck.

I don't believe that this is a problem with other packet writing software as it was running FULLY (I know hard to believe for this Roxio product) with multiple other CD and DVD burning software (namely Ahead Nero 5.5, Record Now, Arcsoft Showbiz 1 and 2). Personally, I think that this is just their way of trying to get you to use only their software.

Anyway, I digress...

I have tried unistalling EMC 7.5 twice since and each time the Drag to Disc and any other feature required to burn a CD/DVD but get the same problem. After each time, I tried a repair but now I am getting a Error 1309 - saying that it cannot find a file on the very installation CD.

AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHH

Not ready nor willing to do as others have suggested to get this to work (format drive, reinstall windows etc.) Any other suggestions?

I had the exact same problem. I believe it has something to do with the Sonic CinePlayer that may have been conflicting with Roxio Easy Media Creator DVD ver. 7, or it may have been Microsoft Publisher 2002 which I installed recently as well. I used the System Restore feature to go back before the Publisher 2002 was installed, and now the drag to disc feature is working again, but there is some kind of error when I try to launch the Roxio Home thing. I think un-installing and re-installing it again after the system restore should take care of it. I hope this helps.

Update: I could not un-install the Roxio program. I had to download this clean-up utility from Microsoft in order to get the un-installer to work properly. You can download that tool here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9...1bd/msicuu2.exe

Now read my posts below. Hope this helps...

As in a Basketball game, once one side has scored, the points remain, even if the other team gets the ball back.

Once that file needed to run the program has been altered, simply uninstalling something won't un-change it. (Using system restore before the point it was changed might, tho.)

I can't see how WinOffice would be involved. "Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition" certainly sounds like a possible candidate, tho. Unfortunately, merely uninstalling it doesn't undo the changes.

This applies to any Version of Roxio (6, 7, 7.5, 8 ...) or any other program you are having problems with.

The problem is between the Operating System and the progam, and need help from the OS side. That's what the Cleanup Utility does.

Try this (suggested by a qualified expert):

(1) uninstall V7

(2) install and run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the V7 installer fragments

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;290301

(3) reinstall V7

Let us know how it goes.

By "V7" are you talking about Roxio Easy Media Creator version 7.5 - this is the one that I am having problems with.

I found the problem! (I think...) It looks like GOOGLE EARTH is the culprit. What I said in my previous post above did work, until I installed Google Earth. I used System Restore to back to the point before installing Google Earth and everything is working fine again, without having to re-install.

UPDATE --- It is NOT Google Earth that's causing the problem, it's Picassa by Google that crashed my Roxio Easy Media Creator DVD v. 7. That really stinks because Picassa is such an awesome program. I guess I will have to find something else to organize my pictures. I had to use System Restore again to get things back to normal. I won't install Picassa again and see what happens. I am almost positive that is what did it. I knew something was wrong after installing it because it created a strange folder on my desktop.
