My computer recently had to be cleared out and all things reinstalled. I believe the person who did this, didn't know to install the record utility. I have my CD-R/RW drive and Easy CD Creator 5 installed, but I can't record without a record utility. I read in some forum that it is located on my Easy CD Creator disc, but I can't seem to find it. I don't know what you mean by "the record utility". Would you please describe what it looks like, or what it does so I can help you on this? eterelas Posted March 5, 2006 Author Report Share Posted March 5, 2006 This is how you're told you to install it: Installing the CD Record Utility To record data on a CD-R or CD-RW disc in the CD-R/RW drive, you must first install the CD record utility. For compatibility reasons, you are recommended to uninstall any existing software of the same type before installing this utility. Insert the disc supplied with the CD-R/RW drive in the drive. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen to install the utility. Refer to the separate utility documentation for further details. Store the utility disc in a safe place. Brendon Posted March 6, 2006 Report Share Posted March 6, 2006 Hello, I don't know of any separate "CD Record Utility" supplied with Easy CD Creator, however after reading those instructions I would say that Easy CD Creator IS the recording utility that they have supplied to you. Perhaps the instructions are generic, and with some of their packages they supplied a different bundle of recording software. This way, it doesn't matter whether it's ECDC or something else, they wouldn't have to reprint the instructions if they changed suppliers. It may save them time and effort, but it has a good potential to confuse the customer doesn't it! I would suggest you just go ahead and install the ECDC they have provided, and then start burning CDs. What happens when you start ECDC 5, and try to write to your CD-R/RW drive? Are you getting error messages? Does it say that there aren't any recorders installed? What about ECDC 5? Do you get an error from that program, and if so, what is it? And now you've put in another variable, but you haven't told us what the name of the program is? What other CD writing program did you install? As Brendon said, can you play an Audio CD? If you insert a commercially produced Data CD and start Windows Explorer, does it display the contents properly? Please answer our questions, they'll help us help you. eterelas Posted March 7, 2006 Author Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 The only error I get from ECDC 5 says to insert a blank cd or one with enough space to record. The other program I installed is called Feurio An audio cd plays just fine. I can put in and play/ use data/music from CD-Rs and CD-RWs that I recorded stuff on in the past, I just can't seem to record. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
