Green Screen

latinangel_13@yahoo.com

Question

This all depends on how you prepare your files and the settings used. For example, using GREEN screen like a weather person on TV. The overlay video MUST have the person taped in front of a solid color background. Otherwise, that 'setting' will not work as expected. Once you place the video in the overlay track, you then must SELECT 'chroma keying'. You can also 'shrink' the picture in picture by using the zoom. This tool has not changed much from version 7. Spend some time with the tutorial and HELP files. How to create PIP and chroma keyed overlays isn't that difficult.

I got the following quote from a different topic a few "pages" back. My question is, does the "GREEN SCREEN" really have to be green or can the person just be in front of ANY solid colored background?!?

thnx :)

I think GREEN screen is typically what the technique is called but you can use any color. A bright green is normally used because it is usually a unique color. However, what ever color you select, make sure it is markedly different from the subject you want to display. For example, if you make the background blue and the subject being filmed is wearing a shirt that is some shade of blue, some of the blue shirt will also become transparent along with the background when the chroma key effect (set to blue) is applied.

Hope that helps

Technically to use this feature , the background can be ANY solid color. There is a certain color of green or blue that is used because 'normal' skin tones do not have either. These particular colors are used especially if there is a person in front. Otherwise, you can use any contrasting color. You can also do some great special effects using this. Like having a green background and have the subject wearing a green body suit. This would effectively make the body disappear and look like a floating head.

THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of using the 'green screen'' is LIGHTING! The more even the lighting, the better the results will be.

Hey,

so with roxio media creator 8, can you work with a green screen? If you can, I would like to know how to do that feature.

Thanks for the help

Perhaps something here (link) would be of help. Thanks to karri. It is for EMC 9 but if you have the Deluxe version of EMC 8, it may give you enough information.
