I am using Toast 6 and burning files created in Final Cut Express. All of a sudden the DVD's have a marked

"jitter" when played back. I have tried different brands of disc and different DVD players to no avail.

Any suggestions

This very likely is a field dominance problem. Either Toast is expecting an upper field first or a lower field first frame and the actual video is just the opposite. There are a couple informative Apple knowledgebase articles about field dominance. Here's one of them: Field Dominance Discussion

Toast 6 has this problem too often for my liking. It is one of the reasons I was eager to get Toast 7 which does better at automatically recognizing the field order plus allows you to select whether the order is upper or lower field first. Toast 7 also has a better-quality MPEG encoder so you can get what I'm hinting at.

I think I recall someone using QuickTime Pro to export a FCE movie before taking it to Toast 6 and that resolved the field dominance issue. But my memory could be failing.
