Not sure if I understand you but if you want to burn avi files to a DVD-Video, they will have to be re-encoded to a DVD compliant file.

The only divx files I've had trouble playing in my player are some of the HD ones. They either don't play at all or they choke at start completely.

Thank you Beerman. You are right. The only way to write .avi files on a DVD-Video disc is to re-encode them.

I will be writing the .avi files on a standard DVD-ROM (ISO) and watch them in an .avi compatible player.

Do you have the xvid codec installed? How do they play in Windows Media Player?

Give GSpot a try and see what it tells you about the files you are having trouble with.

Yes I do. I even tried with different versions of the codec. I do not use Windows Media Player to view/hear my audio/video files. Instead I am a regular user of the VideoLAN player (VLC) which plays everything perfectly.

I tried some different things though, which I expect you will find interesting:

Using River Past's Video Cleaner Pro I converted the .ogm files into .avi using several codecs. I found that the best one was RGB24 set up so as not to re-encode the material.

I burnt a simple iso DVD-ROM containing the .avi files.

I tried playing back the DVD-ROM on two DVD players both marked as DivX compatible. My Marantz DV6600 played back the video smoothly but without audio. The video quality was superb. A newer (and cheaper) Philips played both audio and video giving me the solution I wanted.

I am still searching for a way to burn small video files on a DVD-Video avoiding to re-encode the material.

I have a series of files on .ogg, .ogm format coded with the Xvid standard.

I can't import them on MyDVD, MyDVD Express in order to author a standard DVD Video.

How can I enable importing xvid files on Media Creator 10?
