Write Speed & DVD-R vs. DVD+R

JohnN

Question

Greetings. I am new to Toast and just built a project (VIDEO_TS) from DVD Studio Pro. I handed out a couple that were burn in DVDSP and some of them froze up in different DVD Players (one was a DVD+R player). I am now wanting to burn in Toast.

I read that the best possible way to get the most players to play a DVD is by burning at the slowest speed on DVD-R's?

Would this mean the write speed at 1x or 2x?

Should I do the same but use DVD+R's at that speed?

Just don't want to hand them out and have 1/2 of them come back...

Thanks for any help.

John

Most DVD media today won't accept write speeds slower than 4X. It sounds, though, that you have a batch of blank discs that aren't very good. You can check user reports on the blank discs you're using by inserting a disc and clicking Disc Info in the Toast Recorder menu. There will be a link to a Web site where users have reported on that specific media manufacturing code.
