Creator 8 - cannot write DVD data files

My E drive is defined as E: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4480b - Firmware 1.12. This version does not support writing a DVD only reading the DVD. Do I have to update my firmware in order to write data files to my DVD drive? This driver version does not allow DVD writting only CD.

You need to replace the drive - it is a CD-RW/DVD-ROM - it can read and write to CD but can only read from DVD
