Impossible to install BackonTrack suite

Heco

Question

Hello,

I have just purchased BackOnTrack suite 3.0. But it's impossible to complete the installation process. A message appears saying that the installation was interrupted and to try later!

I have Win XP SP2 with Avira AV, Zone Alarm disabled during the installation. Many reboots and tries, ... to no avail!

What must i do? Incompatibility with my system? A refund request?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Herve

Herve, I was finally able to get B.O.T. installed but it involved backing up and saving all my data and installation files, etc. then bringing my computer back to it's original factory state and re-installing all data and programs. Roxsio did respond to my ticket with the only advice to turn the virus scanner off which I had already done. It was an incredible hassle as you can imagine, but I will say the program does work as advertised when finally installed.

Roxsio needs to learn customer service and fast. They need operators (live) and toll free numbers, not pay for minute tech support. I couldn't believe that!!

Good luck with your installation..

But remember to install Back on Track BEFORE your other applications and AFTER you allow windows to update immediately after restoring your computer. Get virus scanner and firewall install programs ready on your desktop immediately after B.O.T install and then run them.

Based on this last post, this tells me that there was some application running on the system that prevented the installation from happening. It may not have been antivirus, but I am guessing that it was some sort of anti-malware application of some kind. Anything that would monitor for registry changes would be my first guess.

Can you tell us more about which security applications you had installed on the system.

Also, you may want to run msconfig and disable any unnecessary applications that may be launching during startup. You can always go back and turn them on, but it's pretty useful for troubleshooting.
