Running Extraneous Programs

I have been reading posts on this forum for quite some time now (including the old forum) and I see many replies that suggest down loading certain free "self help" programs that are supposed to solve a certain problem. Especially programs that are supposed to clean the registry, remove a program, etc. Many times these programs will appear to solve a particular problem but in doing so they also will change other settings in your system that will stop other programs from running correctly. And this happens all to often.

My suggestion is this: If you are not totally knowledgeable of what the program will do, then stick with the professionals that truly know how to fix a certain problem. If you are not knowledgeable about changing items in the registry, then don't. Registry cleaners might clean up one thing but also can remove or change other settings that are vital to the entire system.

Anyway, be very careful about trying certain reply post suggestions regarding some of these self-help programs, unless you are sure what they will accomplish.
