Got A Really Weird One Here

Question

Hi gang,

Has anyone else had problems with the audio volume in VideoWave 8? Here's the rundown of what is going on for me:

In every other program (including other portions of Roxio) my sound is normal, however, in Video Wave8 portion, the sound is so loud that it can be heard down the hall from my desk...and I use a headset. Beyond being concerned about it blowing the speakers in my headset, this is VERY frustration, particularly since this just started today. Everything worked perfectly fine yesterday.

The major change between yesterday and today was that I added a Logitech Orbits Webcam. That, however, has been completely uninstalled, with no effect on the Roxio issue. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled my audio drivers, ran a repair on Roxio, then finally uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio. I'm at my wits ends here! Also, without any real pattern that I've noticed, VideoWave8 bluescreens from a Video driver failure when I am attempting to close the program. This also started along with the audio issue.

I am currently running an Alienware ALX machine, with Intel dual core 3.1 MHz processors, 2 gigs of RAM, and an NVidia 7800 GTX SLI vid card with 512m....and the onboard sound from the NVidia Asus motherboard, in Windows Media Center....all completely patched and up to date.

I'm open to any suggestions at this point!

You could try installing the new audio drivers, again. The distortion used to happen to some onboard sound cards in previous versions. Doing the following usually fixed it:

Go to Start/Run, and type in dxdiag in the text box. Once dxdiag opens click on the Sound tab, and move the Sound Accelerator slider to the left a couple of notches. Reboot, and see if your problem goes away. If it does, then install the sound card drivers again, reboot, check to see if all is well, and if so, go back to dxdiag, and move the slider back to full acceleration, and check to see if all is still okay.

Thanks for the suggestion, I REALLY wish it had worked. Bumped the Dxdiag settings down a couple of notches, rebooted and VideoWave 8 still tried to burst my ear drum. I've just redownloaded the audio drivers...maybe I somehow got a bad install *shrugs* I'm getting desparate here.

Well so much for reinstalling the audio drivers again. VideoWave 8 still won't play nice with the other children.

Anyone got any other ideas? Short of sacrificing my child, i'm game to try it at this point....and depending on the circumstances I might consider that. :)

-Thanks for the help

Have you tried the old fashioned Windows restore? Pick a restore point to before where you installed the web camera.

Windows restore didn't help much. Apparently, Roxio just plainly didn't like the onboard sound...so I guess I'll just have to settle for the Creative Labs Audigy 4 Pro....the pain, huh? :)

Thank you to everyone for all of your suggestions!

LOL! Are you sure that you are not manufacturing problems so you HAVE to get that new Audigy? :) It is a sweet card. A bit pricy right now, but I would like to have one.

I have the Audigy2 Platinum, and I like it.
