"Play" not playing what it should

Jen76

Question

Hi... I'm using MyDVD to make a DVD of family photos and such. I have made the entire movie and menus and all the bells and whistles with no problem. (Thanks to help from the forums here) My issue is once I burn to a folder (or .iso... happens with both), and then burn to disc, when I hit "play" on my main menu, it without fail plays from Chapter 9 - which is my credits.

Now, i know I have it set to play from chapter 1. I have checked and checked again. I have also made sure that Chapter 1 is, in fact, the beginning of the movie. it is. When I preview it in MyDVD it plays properly... starting with Chapter 1, and playing through to chapter 9. However, once I burn it, it plays chapter 9, and that's it. Nothing else. (unless I selet the chapters manually from the menus)

Has anyone else had this problem, or is there something I'm compltely overlooking? Please let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks in advance!

1) If you use Cineplayer to view the DVD-video folder set on your hard drive, does it play fine (starts from chapter 1)?

2) How did you create the slideshow (or what you call the movie) that you used in MyDVD?

I had never tried Cineplayer... thanks for bringing it to my attention! :) I just tried my DVD file in there, and it does the same... starts at Chapter 9 (17 minutes into my slideshow) when I select Play.

I had used Windows Movie maker to create the slidewhow. I haven't had any issues in the past combining a slideshow made in WMM with MyDVD. Which is why I'm so confused as to what the problem is. I'm sure it's probably something very simple, but I'm stumped. I've done all the troubleshooting I can come up with.

And of course it's a gift for the holidays, so now I feel pressured for time. *sigh* I thought all Ihad left to do was burn. Not so, apparently. ;)

Thanks for the quick reply... hopefully a solution will come up. And thanks again for mentioning Cineplayer... good to know about - sure could have saved me a lot of good ol' "coasters".

You're welcome. It is a good practice to preview the image file first prior to burning. And it only makes sense to use a tool like Cineplayer which is already part of the Suite.

In what format do you output your slideshow in WMM? If the slideshow is not that long, maybe bring it in Videowave and output as mpeg. Then bring in the mpeg to MyDVD and create chapters. Let us know how it goes.

As a suggestion, use Videowave to create your future slideshows.

I had output from WMM as an avi, then brought it into MyDVD and created chapters. I wonder why this time it's being an issue, though. Very odd. I'll give your suggestion a go and hopefully it solves my problem.

Thanks so much for your help! :)
