Error message while recompressing VIDEO_TS Folder

MacGloster

Question

I'm using Toast 8.03 (german) with Leopard and trying to burn a Video_TS Folder to a single layer dvd. The folder is a little too large for on dvd, so I had to enable the checkbox to fit the content on one dvd "DVD-Video Kompression".

I choose Copy-options ("Kopieroptionen") and Custom settings ("Eigene"). I select the "ABC" Button and deselect one of the languages and or subtitles I do not need.

Recompressing is then not neccesary (Compression identical to original)

Starting the burn process or writing an image to HDD always ends with:

"Ein Fehler ist bei der Rekomprimierung der Videodaten aufgetreten (OK)" An Error occured while recompressin video data.

No further information is given.

Any ideas?

It may be a software bug. Does it work to create a single-layer-sized disc image without deselecting any content? What format is the audio track: PCM or AC-3?

It works without deselecting content. It even does not work, if I deselect one of the subtitles.

The audio format is AC-3.

Sounds like a bug. The only alternative I can think of is to place the VIDEO_TS folder on the desktop, select DVD with the Media Browser, select the titles you want in the browser and add them to the Video window with DVD video selected as the format. The MPEG files will be extracted from the VIDEO_TS folder. You probably lose the subtitles this way. Toast will author a new VIDEO_TS folder from the extracted titles when you save as disc image or burn a DVD.

This worked perfectly. Thank you

I am getting the same error message when I try to do a Full DVD from a Video_ts folder onto a single layer dvd.

It gets to 69% and freezes my whole computer for a minute, then I get the same message.

I upgraded from toast 8 to 8.03 and still have the same problem.

If this is a bug, it is something new, as I used to be able to do this. After reading Toast's support for freezing/crashes, I deleted my prefs file and the com.roxio.toast.plist file, and tried again. But no luck. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
