VCD picture quality

DavidN

Question

I have recently purchased Easy Media Creator 10 which I have used to create a slideshow on a VCD. However the quality of the TV picture from the vcd is nowhere near as good as the computer preview. Would a DVD produce a better quality picture and if so can anyone recommend a suitable external burner for use with this software( Not too expensive). Many thanks.

If your DVD player will handle it and if the slide show is less than about 20 minutes, you can try burning a SVCD. The quality will be better than the VCD but still not as good as a full DVD. Try it, it may be good enough and no extra cost.

You can also see what is available on-line for a DVD external burner (USB connected). This is one reputable site. Internal burners are cheaper but replacing a burner on a laptop is not a (low cost) possibility. Replacing what you have on a desk top with an internal takes about 10 minutes.

You have to remember that the definition on a donestic TV set is never as good as a computer monitor.

You probably would get better quality on DVD - as for recommendations, pretty much any of the well-known names should do the job but make sure that you have a USB2 connection - USB1 is a bit too slow for reliability

Firewire (if you can get one) is ideal (but also, make sure you have the port on the computer)
