As was pretty much said previously, in this thread, those minimums are bogus. As to why they are listed like that, you would have to ask Roxio.

I agree completely about the stated requirements being bogus, whoever came up with them was apparently self medicating or had some other problem. I was just curious about the amount of degradation a celeron processor suffers, I do not re-call seeing anything comparing the celeron processors to non-celeron processors and what the equilavent non-celeron processor would be. Reading the forums, GI7OMY often has sources of such info, just thought he might have a ready reference of such comparisions. My question was really off-topic and not intended to reflect on his response, should have made that clearer in my post.

Source is a solid background in electronic servicing with over 25 years of that in digital (plus LOTS of reading, supplementary courses, etc)

Some computer specs would be most helpful but as a start, see if what's posted here helps you.

Beerman, i am working a os of windows xp and a celeron 1.30GHZ w/2 GB of RAM

How much free space on your C drive to store temp files?

That computer is above the minimum specs but at the very low end of what seems to be the real minimums. Whatever you do, make sure nothing else is running at the same time as the encoding. That you have cleaned out the temporary files on the hard drive, got rid of any malware, and defragged the hard drive. It will still be slow.

The minimums that Roxio lists for the processor, RAM, and video card/chip are basically enough to boot up the computer and nothing more.

Actually a Celeron 1.3 GHz is below even the 'recommended' minimum (and well below it too)

Since the user said he is using Windows XP, I would have thought it would have met the "recommended" minimum of:

Windows XP with 500 MHz processor or faster; 128 MB RAM

others listed in their replies.

No disagreement about what others in this thread said about the quality of the "recommended minimum", I do not think I would want to try running EMC 10 on celeron 1.3ghz, just curious about the statement
