Importing DVD-VR?

ChristFollower

Question

I recently bought a DVD camcorder. It can record DVD-R/W with VR format. The files it generates have .VRO extension (image file) and .IFO (as meta data). I am having hard time finding software that will work with the format correctly. The only one that seems to work is from AVS Media. I came across another internet post that leads me to look at Easy Media Creator 10. I am especially interested in this because I could buy a copy from Sam's Club. BUT, before I spend the money, I need to know if it will do what I need it to do - reading/importing .VRO/.IFO video.

Thanks.

From what I have seen there are not any 'Hard Standards' followed by camcorder makers that use discs for recording media…

If you Finalize the media within the camcorder it should put it into a Standard format that can be imported.

James, thank you for responding. I did "finalize" the DVD. And, that's how I was able to read the files. Some software I tested would read the output if I rename the VRO to MPG. However, it doesn't always work correctly. Plus, I would loose scenes information (stored in the IFO file.

The trial version of EMC 9 is still available. If, after you finalize the disc, you might try that to see if it works.

As an alternate, you can buy 10 directly from Roxio, they probably still have the 30 day money back warranty. It might be worth getting the program from Roxio to see if it works for you; if not, you have lost nothing but a little time. Get the extended download facility and/or the back up discs.

Check the minimum computer specs in either case. Your computer should far exceed these minimums for best results. You would just put the disc in your computer's reader and copy the vob files to your hard drive and work from those.

Thank you for responding. I downloaded EMC 9 and I am going to give it a try.
