"No Recorder"

bobnrobin

Question

Mornin'...

About 3 mos. ago, purchased EMC9 Suite. Installed the main disk. Things seemed to be fine. Then, suddenly, one day discovered that both D & E drives had disappeared from My Computer and about that same time EMC no longer showed destination drive as E. Found the fix - D & E drives now show in My Computer and recording is enabled on the E drive as it should be. EMC still did not show as destination. DL'd the pxengine fix - EMC again shows the E drive as destination. (Have not tried to record anything so do not know if it's really fixed or not.) But, the Drag to Disk Icon pops up on start up and shows No Recorder. If I R-click it and try to Enable recording it says drive is busy try again later. Later never works. There is not a disk in the drive and it is not lit. I did disable the "watch" function. Would that cause Drag to Disk to show No Recorder ?

Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks. (Dell Dim. 8200, WinXPHome, sp2, E drive is Nec NR7900A)

Many people delete Drag 2 Disc and use Creator Classic to write data to discs. That is change from packet writing which has some limitations on which computer can read the disc to session writing where any computer can read the disc. You can make multiple sessions per disc and discs are inexpensive now.

Another advantage is that you do not have to format the disc.

I'm not going to comment on the reliability of packet writing but I'm sure someone else will.

Drag 2 Disc is a separate listing in Windows add or remove programs so it can be deleted with ease and should fix this and future issues.

Thanks sknis (The Other Steve)..

For taking the time to reply.... Was mostly just curious as to why the D2D started to show No Recorder when it had shown the E drive for some time after the install, and why it did not come back after the pxengine fix as it did on the main EMC9 page. Not a problem as both Creator Classic and WMP10 seem to be functional and that D2D will free up some space on my new small hard drive...

Thanks again,
