Error message

Question

Having difficulties burning, encodes then I receive the above message. Tried different discs, using dvd-wr now it did work once after I changed some settings to 192kbs and to SP as the file is the maximum 4.7mbs but have trimmed it and burned it on 2 discs. That was the one time shot. Tried again, as these are our wedding videos to send to family, so any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Also shut down any running programs.

Thanks

Unable to lock voluce for exclusive access

Reason: Access is denied

Then Cancel, Try Again, Continue

If i click continue it will buffer, then another error:

Writing at 4x, using Kodak DVD-R 16X 4.7 dics

Yes "write" was checked and checked test as well

Roxio wrote at 4x tried different bitrates 192 and 464 i think it is? It's not open right now. This disc is the only one I've had any luck with so far, again I was able to burn some yesterday but not last night or today using either program.

Thanks

LOL ok! Whatever, I've downloaded Imgburner and after saved video as ISO it failed to write!! I'm ready to throw my pc out the window....wondering if it being an external burner is any of the problem? Sometimes it works, most times not!

Under the Mode tab is 'write' checked? Then directly under Destination, your drive ID, below that is a test mode, put a check in that box. Set the write speed box to 4x and try again, this time it won't waste your disc, if it fails tell us what error it gives.

What brand of disc are you using and at what speed in Roxio and ImgBurn did you burn at?

I've seen enough posts by people whose problems turned out to be that they didn't have a DVD burner to be willing to suggest basics. (They usually have a combo drive - read, write CDs and read-only DVDs, but I've seen ones where OP was trying to get the software to convert the CD-RW to a DVD-RW :()

So no offence that you are better informed. :)

Nope looks like we don't! It came with our Plextor DVD burner, just tried to burn from roxio and it failed as well. Trying from Creator now, this is a different project now for my daughters school.

Well that didn't work either

This is the version we have:

Roxio Easy Media Creator Home

Version: 9.0.197

Build: 901B97I, PLX

Serial Number: 3S-P7JJV-9BP9X-KHDBM

Copyright: Sonic Solutions 2006

Module Name: PX Engine

Build: 3.6.36a, 13

Copyright: Sonic Solutions 2006

Module Name: Roxio Core

Version: 3.3.0

Build: 331B90F, PLX

Copyright: Sonic Solutions 2006

You have a stripped down OEM version of the software. Not all programs are included with it. You could upgrade to EMC 10, or you can get ImgBurn (free), and burn your .iso file to disc.

If you don't see, what is in the following attachment, you don't have the full version of EMC 9.

Ok project has been encoded as ISO but I can't find Disc Copier anywhere? In my program files, there's a folder named it, sub folder is Filters, but I don't have it on my desktop, so I don't have a clue now where to find it before I can proceed

Thanks for your suggestions as well

Sorry yes i'm using the full version, not trial guess i posted in the wrong place!

File size is 1.81 GB. New at this, how do i change to an iso file? Taking hours to encode! Working with a Dell Pentium 4, 2.66ghz, 1.25 gb of ram. Kinda need step by step help here.

Thanks for your reply

File size is not important (except with very large files). You can get 1 hour of video on a single sided disc at best quality; up to 2 hours at a reduced quality.

Hours to encode is not unusual. Estimate 1 to 3 times the length of the project to encode. If you have an on-board video card, then the time will be longer. If you don't have a lot of free space on your hard drive or if it is fragmented, then it may take longer or worse.

When you finish your project in MyDVD and go to burn, select ISO file and deselect everything else. Name the ISO file and where you want it to be placed. Let the project encode. After it has finished, copy the ISO file to a blank DVD using Disc Copier.

Perhaps reading the step by step instructions given in the V9 Tips and Tricks area might be of help. There is a lot of other good information there for the relative new user.

You have posted in the Trial Version forum, is that the version you are using? It may not contain all the features of the full, retail version.

How long in time is the video you are trying to burn? A standard 4.7GB DVD will only hold 60 minutes using best quality. You can squeeze more on a DVD but then lose quality.

Another option is to burn the full video to an iso (image) file and then use DiscCopier to burn the iso file to a DVD. DiscCopier will transcode the video to fit on a standard DVD with better quality then using the "fit to Disc" or selecting one of the other quality options than "Best"
