I few questions as a result of my editing

Question

Just finished building a movie of my recent cruise. Trimmed it down to 57 min. from 150min. Program worked great and I'm pleased with the investment. However, I did come across a couple burps whilst trimming. I used Videowave to trim. I would mark the spot that I wanted to trim and then select that area in between and delete. Why would the movie jump to another starting point; other than where I left it. Very annoying as I would have to manipulate my way back to that point. Also on several occasions; after I trimmed a section; I would wind up with no sound. I would have to close VideoWave; reopen my saved file and try again. It always seemed to work the second time. Minor glitches; but annoying. What was I doing wrong. Must have been something at my end!

I haven't played around with a menu yet and chapters. Looks easy enough. Another thing I was considering is a slide show of some of my photos. Is this possible with the movie or would that be a separate file?

I would like to thank everyone for their prompt replies. Some forums that I lurk at; do not even come close to the quick responses and expertise that this one provides!

1) That's the way it works. I think many who work with the program agree with you.

2) I know other people have had similar problems or even problems where deleted music still plays. You have two options, doing what you are doing or try going to the top menu, tools, options and delete the proxy files. They are immediately rebuilt with what is in the current project.

3) One of the great things about this program is to mix slide shows and videos together in one VideoWave project. Best done in VideoWave storyline view for adding the images and videos in the sequence you want them and then editing the video in timeline view.

You sound like an enthusiastic user of the program. Be sure to check out the Tips and Tricks area of the V9 and V10 forums for a lot of valuable information that is not in the manual.

Good luck.

This sound problem seems to be EXACTLY what I am experiencing. Except that I have attempted the file trimming over and over again, still procuding a finished DVD with NO SOUND. Are you saying that you started from scratch importing your file (mine is mpeg) into Videowave and did the trimming (using 'markers' to snip out pieces?) and it worked eventually? I will try again but last night I threw away 5 DVDs. Maybe I didn't start over clean enough....wish I could make sense of this. Thanx. I am searching database for this topic.

Think about that a little more…

The last selected portion you just used, you just deleted! Do you really want to go to the computers never, never land where Ctrl-Z lives?

The program goes to the START of the section that is BEFORE the piece you deleted.

Your next guess would probably be to have it go to the end of the section BEFORE, right???

But if there is no BEFORE section, it would then go to the end of the NEXT section… Now wouldn't that be a pain in the a--!

How about a pop-up box that lets you choose the BEFORE or AFTER as well as the START or the END of… Well wouldn't that get tiresome real fast!

I have worked with some editors that just leave you where you were. It becomes quite a pain to use them because you have to scroll and scroll and scroll to get anywhere…

Maybe it would be better to just leave it alone.

I wish I had an answer for the sound issue. Only thing I can throw out is that it your OS is telling you it is time to reboot. This will often clear up those little oddities.
