Expensive little problem

Jonno

Question

I am trying to burn an ISO from my hard drive. The ISO is 7.71GB, and I am using 8.5 GB Memorex DVD+R DL discs. Every time I try to burn image, the burn progresses about 1 minute, and then failes with the following message:

There was a problem writing to disc. You can try again by pressing the retry button. You will need a new blank disc.

PxSFS.DLL: 4.2.58.500

PxWave.dll: 4.2.58.500

Direct X has been updated, as well as my graphics card drivers. Any help would be hugely appreciated, as these discs aren't cheap and I'm starting to run out >_<.

Sense code errors are usually caused by the media or the type of disc's that you are using.

You could try updating the firmware for you burner, try a diferent brand of disc (Memorex are not the greatest....many ,many posts on this forum with users having problems using them, try Verbatim.

**037303 Power calibration area error

Your Memorex DVD+R DL discs, when checked in a Disc info tool like DVDInfo Pro or CDDVDSpeed, free program (CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.3 ) here. Are probably MID ' media ID ' RITEK D01 (001). Post your Burner specs, visit your Drive makers website for a firmware update. What speed did Roxio default to for the disc?

Then go here and get ImgBurn (free) current version: 2.3.2.0 Released: 12th April 2007. Use it to write the image. Use ImgBurn's test function to do a test burn ($$Expensive$$) and note the write speed probably only 2.4X.

**037303 4 5 6 Power calibration area error

There are many cases where there is a problem with the disc, or information cannot be retrieved from the disc properly. The PC may be unstable or try a new disc.

NEC ND 3650A with latest firmware. Haven't taken any of the other steps yet, default burn speed is 'Calculating' when the burn fails. I tried assigning max speed as 2.4X, but still failure.

Nec SATA ? ND-3650A Firmware 1.08c ?

Check the disc's MID in speed and use Imgburn test mode, unless you like buying and toasting DL disc's...

How did you create the ISO file? If you open Disc Copier and slelect the ISO file, does it preview.

You can also mount an emulated drive and add that ISO file to it. It it plays, it is your burner or your media. If it does not play, then there is something wrong with the file.

Jonno,

It could be the media, drive, or a system setting. The only DL media I would use is Verbatim +R DL, any media can have a bad batch. Verbatim guarantee, just replaced a 20pk #95123 and a 10pk #95166 for me that were junk!

Below is a look at your NEC 3650A SATA 108C Firmware, I asked before is this your drive and firmware version? Did you add this drive or did it come with the pc? It shows support for RITEK D01-001 at 2.4x speed only, is that what you burn at in Roxio and the test burn in ImgBurn?

In the future buy Verbatim +R DL they are MID MKM.

Verbatin DL +R 10 pk, Verbatin # on the package 95166 are MID 'MKM 001-000' http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817131163
