Video capture issues

becranfill

Question

Just got EMC 9 and am trying to capture video using Media Import from my Sony Digital 8 camcorder. Have done it with no problems in the past with earlier versions of EMC. It recognizes the camcorder fine and records but always cuts off between 30 and 35 seconds into a video. I have not checked the option to record a 30 second segment and am just trying to capture the entire tape.

Any ideas on solving the issue? Thanks.

Bruce

Read this. I would ignore item 1.

Is the camcorder connected via Firewire? Have a good connection/wire?

If there are pauses in the tape the program thinks that the tape is at an end and may shut down.

Captue with Windows Movie Maker or the software that came with your video camera.and then edit with VideoWave.

For my situation it is also a Sony camcorder connected to the computer via firewire. It's only started with EMC 9. I was fine on my old version no problems. It's not the pauses from the tape because like the person that started this thread, the capture stops at exactly 30 or 31 seconds every single time. I'll start back the capture and in 30 seconds the capture stops again. i also don't have any timer on the amount of time for capture.

I have the same problem. No gaps in the tape but EMC 9 stops capturing at 31-32 seconds. I'm going to import with Windows MM. EMC 9 video capture should not have this unexplained limitation.

It should be noted that this does not happen to everyone. That doesn't help you, but it isn't a limitation of the program.

:o This is EXACTLY the same problem I've got and the solutions posted have not resolved the issue. I don't know what the problem is and I can't use the software because of this. If you find anything out on this that works for you, PLEASE let me know.
