DVD-R or DVD+R

Race DVD

Question

DVD-R or DVD+R, which is compatable with more DVD players?

Is one better than the other?

Why are there 2 versions?

I have used DVD-r for most of the stock Car races I video, some people have trouble playing my disc's created in 7.5 (as some of you know I have recently gone with 10) others never have any trouble, I always do a random test in 2 different, (different manufacturer) players, and I never have a problem. But I have one guy say that the top of the line Sony in his car transporter will not play my disc's but his player at home plays them just fine.

Is it because I am using DVD-R? Should I be using DVD+R?

ANY THOUGHTS?

Race DVD,

IMO it's more the quality of the disc, than "Is one better" a + or - disc! I have burned just as many -R as +R disc's and have no problem playing either on my settop players. I do prefer +R single layer Taiyo Yuden and for DL disc's I only use + R Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (Verbatim/MKM)...

I have always used Sony, discs. but have tried Memorex and really haven't seen any difference, Sony seemed to make more coasters, the discs you mention I have never heard of where do you get them?

Race DVD,

your "Sony & Memorex" are something else because they don't make media!

Go here and download the free and excellent tool 'Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.3 released! Use it to identify the media ID (MID) of the media your using. It is a bundle of CD & DVD quality check tools, in a small foot print exe program. Download it to a folder on your HD and extract the exe from the zip file, run it from the folder if you like.

Where I buy Taiyo Yuden media here and here, buy the Premium.

Here is a Memorex + R DL disc in CDDVDSpeed, Disc info tab. Sony's +R DL disc's are the same MID!

So Sony and memorex are made by the same company, interesting, and the Taiyo discs aren't that bad in price, a little less than the Sony - Memorex, except when they are on sale.

Good infor, unfortunately I just bought 100 Sony DVD+R, but I think I will go ahead and place an order for the Taiyo, they are offering free shipping now.
