copying a cd in Toast 8.0.3 in Leopard

Robert Jan

Question

Today I tried making a copy of a cd in Toast 8.0.3 in Leopard (G5-PowerMac), using Toasts Disk-copy. It didn't work, for both cd's I got the message Error because of a Mac-OS failure (Code 5).

I grabbed my laptop (G4-PowerMac, running Tiger and Toast 8.0.1) and it worked for both cd's!

Has someone had the same experience or has someone any idea what can be the problem? The cd's are not encrypted, they are recordings of my own theater-show.

I don't know the problem but I bet it will work if you do this in a two-step process. Choose Save as Disc Image from the File menu and then select that disc image using the Image File setting in the Copy window to burn the copy.

Leopard is extremely slow to mount and unmount discs in the Finder anymore. Sometimes it times out before it will work correctly. Give the disc time to mount/eject and if that doesn't work, I suggest doing what tsantee said and create a disc image first.

I personally don't recommend Leopard in it current state.
