Capture DV or AVI

Hello all, I have found lots of good answers on this board , but can't seem to get this one. I cannot seem to capture my video as either AVI or DV. It's on an HP with Vista Home premium, Athlon E 5600+ processor, it comes in through a Hauppauge win tv card,composite video inputs. It will only give me options of DVD HQ,SP,LP . Drivers are updated. I want to be able to edit my old VHS and most people on the board say you need it to edit an not lose quality. THanks , Paul

With the Hauppauge TV cards, those are the only choices you have. You should have no trouble editing the captured file in Videowave. I doubt if you will notice any slight lose in quality since the original was VHS.
