jakey
How can I get my creator 10 to input a wide screen video from my video camera?
jakey
The camcorder is a sony digital video camera recorder that has a wide screen selection. the playback out put is in 16:9. Should the inputed files look like widescreen? Do I need an update in one of my programs? I think my problem is in media import. My widescreen input comes in to a 4:3 screen not a 16:9 widescreen as it appears on my camera. Is there a media imprt setting i am missing or do I need an update in something? thanks jake
ggrussell
What type of camcorder? Should be automatic with most tape camcorders.
ggrussell
If you won't answer our questions, we can't help. There are NO updates or patches or settings to change. But there may be a work around. I own two Sony digital camcorders and Media Import captures 16:9 just fine for me.

Ped
Hi I'm having the same problem with my Sony DCR-TRV33E Mini DV camera, connected to my PC via a USB cable. When I am capturing the video the preview image is 4:3. I then open VideoWave as suggested above, selecting a 16:9 presentation but when I add the video I captured it is still 4:3 with the black bars left and right. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks Peter

Thanks Peter USB is not intended for video transfer. It is mainly for transferring still images or connecting the camcorder as a 'webcam'. YOU MUST use firewire (Sony iLink) with your miniDV camcorder to get the full resolution it is capable.

I've had the camera for a couple of years now and I've recorded all my videos in 16:9 Many thanks for your help

I've had the camera for a couple of years now and I've recorded all my videos in 16:9 Many thanks for your help Here's what the Sony manual says about recording in the Widescreen mode http://129.33.22.12/release/DCRTRV33.PDF Page 53 I'd recommend that you buy the Sony i-link cable. A couple of us have Sony camcorders ( I have 2) and I think that the capture using the Sony cable is better than with another brand. Look carefully at the connections on the camcorder and the IEEE 1394 card before purchasing the cable. Some cables have 4 pin to 4 pin and some 4 pin to 6 pin. Once you have captured that video to your hard drive, and you want to edit it, open VideoWave, click on File, then on New Production, then on 16:9. You should see your production screen go to widescreen. Then, click on Add Photo/Video, browse to where you have your movie stored, and bring it in for editing. Aside: Before you capture, make a folder called capture, or whatever you want to call it. Inside that folder, make separate folders for whatever different category for videos you are capturing. When you capture, capture to these folders. And make sure that main folder is outside of Documents and Settings.

Some people have posted problems with the camcorders that record on miniDVDs, but you shouldn't have any trouble with camcorders that record to miniDV tape.
