gi7omy
"...DirectX 10 is the latest version of the DirectX suite of multimedia application programming interfaces that Microsoft has built exclusively into its latest operating system, Windows Vista. Gaming enthusiasts will only be able to access DirectX 10 via a combination of one of the latest video cards and one of the editions of Windows Vista. Well, this is no longer the case, as an independent project is already making DirectX 10 for Windows XP available for download. "I'm proud to release a preview of our DirectX 10 compatibility libraries. These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Microsoft Vista, and increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native machine code for execution where hardware isn't capable of running it. No longer will you have to upgrade your OS and video card(s) to play the latest games," revealed Cody Brocious, Lead Engineer on the Alky Project. ..." Big_Dave
To make FULL use of DirectX version 10 you need programs coded to take advantage of DirectX version 10 functions and a video card that fully supports DirectX version 10 functions. jeanrosenfeld
No download on that site that I can see. The actual download site is http://www.fallingleafsystems.com/compatibility/ Alky for games. But it is only a preview. jeanrosenfeld
Apologies. I did not click on the word here only on the blue download (which is just ads)
grandpabruce
Apologies. I did not click on the word here only on the blue download (which is just ads) I would venture to guess that most folks, new to forums, don't know that they should click on a certain word, like "here", to get to a link. I do, but I leave the URL instead, when posting a link.
REDWAGON
I would venture to guess that most folks, new to forums, don't know that they should click on a certain word, like "here", to get to a link. I do, but I leave the URL instead, when posting a link. Several years back Bruce, I was a victim of that until someone set me straight on the use of the underlined word "here". Seems awful silly to me now, but I agree with your "ventured guess". Frank...
